As they walk, they find that it is extremely mazelike, and have to backtrack from wrong turns often. Eventually, they reach an enormous platform rising from the chasm. At the center rests an enormous moss-covered boulder, and an enormous circular door constructed from the strange orange material. His concentration broken, he dives to the side, out of harm's way. He continues what he had been doing before, and with a flash a large object, who's material is describable, rams into the side of the beast, knocking it into the wall and dazing it. The door then draws into the ground, and a spiral stair is seen dropping into the dark.
