Splat94
First off, I know the game is still its in beta-ish state and for all I know some of these suggestions are planned. But here I go anyway.1. I think the map needs to be at last 10-unlimited times bigger. Just from playing about 50 days, nothing is more of a buzzkill than discovering the entire map, digging up EVERY grave, finding every spider next, etc thus leaving nothing really left to do. Exploration in this game is by far one of the more fun things to do and I feel a massive map would add a lot more gameplay.2. The way the day/night system works would be perfect for events. Imagine on (lets say) the 50th day a meteor strikes, or a bandits come, etc... the list is endless and just like the first suggestion, this adds more content.3. I feel that the tier list of flint --> gold is a little short, and I think other options should be added. The problem is that the next tiers would be hard to implement with the way the world spawns, so in come the next suggestion.4. Caves. Oooh an actual challenge! If you search around long enough you could find a cave, enter it (which would lead you into a different "dimension" and from that new enemies, ores, whatever you want could be added. You could even add bosses and even more vanity items! (That might be stretching it)Thanks for the read, hope you like the suggestions.
rojvol
1. It is just the style you play. I have never ever discovered whole map I like the feeling of unknown all around me! But I guess bigger map would just make this feeling even better. Or maybe neverending map? Like in minecraft?2. That is suggested a lot. For example the blood moon event when all the undeads would rise! But I agree it would be cool!3. If you mean it like adding for example silver, then it wouldnt be so hard. We will just replace gold with silver and lower a lot gold drop. I love this.4. Caves are suggested almost every day. I agree it is a good idea.. But only if it wouldnt change a game. etherealwtf
Bigger maps wont give anything. Like Kevin said, it's just the same thing again and again. It's pointless with the actual lack of content. It'd rather be able to export my character into another world. There should be a unique collectible item in each world and when you have 50 of them, you may become the new demon lord after an epic battle with the man you see when you spawn for the first time. Our character should grow old and eventually die. We could get a wife, a child. The player would have to feed and protect them. Our new character could be the child when our "old" character dies. We would inherit our collectible items.
mobius187
1. I think the map needs to be at last 10-unlimited times bigger. Exploration in this game is by far one of the more fun things to do and I feel a massive map would add a lot more gameplay. While I'm not sure the islands need to be 10x larger, as even Kevin commented that multiplying the same content over and over again wouldn't improve our experience, but rather make it feel that much repetitive. That being said, there was talking about underground caverns (by forum members) and portals to other possibly more dangerous/new worlds (hinted at by Kevin).I think once there actually is more content (resources, creatures, biomes) then more islands could/should be used to spread it out, but until then there's no real need.2. The way the day/night system works would be perfect for events. Imagine on (lets say) the 50th day a meteor strikes, or a bandits come, etc... the list is endless and just like the first suggestion, this adds more content.Yup, events have been suggested in the past so your idea has merit. As I've mentioned elsewhere commonly suggested events include "blood moon" (strange monsters rampage during the day and/or night), spider migrations (spiders leave their nests and build new nests elsewhere), earthquakes (sinking/raising islands), weather (thunderstorms and hurricanes, especially), and seasons (especially winter, which included blizzards). In the next update though there will be something of an event, namely the hounds. You will hear them apparently howling and then a pack of hounds will attack. Kevin also mentioned that their appearance was connected to the number of days you've survived on the map. For example, surviving past 120 days will no longer be as easy.3. I feel that the tier list of flint --> gold is a little short, and I think other options should be added. The problem is that the next tiers would be hard to implement with the way the world spawns, so in come the next suggestion. That depends, I've been playing my map for ages (125+ days) and they changed the content of boulders without any issue. Originally every boulder I mined popped out the exact same resources (as I recall... 4 stones, 1 flint, 1 gold) then they randomized it more. So why not simply include new ores inside existing boulders?4. Caves. Oooh an actual challenge! If you search around long enough you could find a cave, enter it (which would lead you into a different "dimension" and from that new enemies, ores, whatever you want could be added. You could even add bosses and even more vanity items! (That might be stretching it)Yup. I won't go into detail, but this idea is popular already and I'm one of the people that supports it. Feel free to make your own suggestions, or search the forum for the ideas suggested by others.1. It is just the style you play. I have never ever discovered whole map I like the feeling of unknown all around me! But I guess bigger map would just make this feeling even better. Or maybe neverending map? Like in minecraft?I'm pretty sure Don't Starve will never have an unending map like Minecraft. Larger, probably, but not infinite.Bigger maps wont give anything. Like Kevin said, it's just the same thing again and again. It's pointless with the actual lack of content.Yup.It'd rather be able to export my character into another world.I think it would be great if we could find ways to travel between multiple worlds or areas, similar to how in Minecraft you can travel between the normal world and the Nether after creating a Nether Portal. Then you could visit these other places, but still have the option to return to the islands. There should be a unique collectible item in each world and when you have 50 of them,50? That sounds a bit too much like grinding... why not just need a few? Take the Nether Portal in Minecraft, you only needed to acquire... what... 16 blocks of Obsidian (if you cut-off the corners)? And then lit it with a simple flint & steel. The risk was more in being unprepared for the Nether than creating the portal.you may become the new demon lord after an epic battle with the man you see when you spawn for the first time. Our character should grow old and eventually die. We could get a wife, a child. The player would have to feed and protect them. Our new character could be the child when our "old" character dies. We would inherit our collectible items.Interesting... but that's all I'll say, it's still too early in the game for me to decide.
