Sanjuaro
I'm a big fisher in games and there's one thing that really bothers me about the fishing mechanic in Don't Starve: why do fishing poles lose durability the moment you cast them? I feel like they should lose it after you catch a fish. Changing this would allow the player to quickly leave the pond without worry of durability loss if a frog decides to spring up and attack, and it would also allow the fishing pole to be used an additional time since each use consumes 11% durability and casting on the final 11% just causes the fishing pole to simply break.I don't think this change would be game breaking at all, it would just make sense. Especially since placeable traps don't lose durability when you put them on the ground.
Bogpad
just a guess, but maybe this:Changing this would allow the player to quickly leave the pond without worry of durability loss if a frog decides to spring up and attack is exactly the reason why they did it the way they... did it.I do admit though that that I find it a bit... not tought through, that the last 11% of a rod render it useless. your suggestion would fix that, but I guess the penalty for leaving the fishing process is indeed intentional, so we need another workaround for that 11% issue I guess. Developer Tatham Posted November 19, 2012 Developer Share Posted November 19, 2012 Thanks for the feedback! Yes, the unusable 11% remaining is an annoyance. I'll fix it for the next release.
