Gurgel
While I was not planning to use them and I left them and their environments basically undisturbed, it would have been nice to have the option the easy way. (Yes, I know I can get more...) But it seems they die out slowly and by cycle 3000 or so, they were all dead and gone. Does anybody know why that happens? NewWorldDan
My guess would be that if there are more kelpoles than the orehulls can eat, that'll stifle reproduction. I hope you get one off the printer pod or have the printerceptor. As I think about it more, I've also had issues with orehulls getting trapped in tiles when they become adults. Mostly in mesh tiles. I don't know. I'm looking at my own game, and at cycle 330, I've only got 1 left on the map (in an area that was only recently uncovered). Ceos
I have noticed that orehulls can confine themselves in solid tiles somehow. I had one stick itself in dirt and another become trapped in a feeder (200ish cycles after it was built). Guessing some sort of bug with their larger hit box? I have a captive breeding program for the exact reason of extinction prevention. Gurgel
That would make sense. Same, incidentally, may happen for Slogos. Or maybe they can spawn an egg in a door. I had 2 that were nicely producing, but after 4000 cycles both are gone. Not a problem, but something to be aware of. Kderosa
Mine died out by cycle 800. I left them in a good size pool of polluted water with plenty of natural kelp. Lucky there’s a printerceptor Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/172355-all-my-orehulls-are-dead/#findComment-1873193 Share on other sites

I've seen them eradicate themselves by "freezing" when they roll the 1% jackpot. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/172355-all-my-orehulls-are-dead/#findComment-1873218 Share on other sites

The area were mine died is at 30C. Well spotted! Well, a new DLC is about finding out things and about surprises. As it is relatively hard to paint yourself into a corner, that works fine for me. That said, the problem with Orehulls may be this one here. If so, it is fixed, just too late for mine. Ceos
Nice, I was about to submit something but you found it @Gurgel... nice catch / submission @NanashiYoukai. Mine just got caught in a feeder again. It is now my head-cannon that Orehulls have metal for shells and rocks for brains. "Orry got his flipper stuck in the feeder *again*! Meep it's your turn to go get him free this time." 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/172355-all-my-orehulls-are-dead/#findComment-1873290 Share on other sites

They get confined aaaaall the time, and even if you unblock them in the meanwhile their pool becomes full of kelpoles. so try to eliminate every corner that is not 2x2 and keeps walls as straight as possible first thing when you find them.
