Baark0 Posted June 6 Share Posted June 6 I think these guys might be a little too good honestly. They're dirt cheap to build with 95% of the materials coming from the Guard Tower mini bosses encounter (and the only material you need to procure yourself is like 4-5 cut stone), they have AoE damage on all of their attacks, they're always allied towards you, and they have a respectable 6000 hp, which allows them to beat most non raid boss tier enemies the majority of the time. You can also get them as early as you can get a 3rd iridescent gem, which means you can absolutely get one of these guys in your first autumn if you really want to. The only real drawbacks they have is the lack of regeneration, the fact you need to kill fuelweaver to get more of them, and their very small radius where they defend. The lack of health regen I think is a good thing, as otherwise these guys would genuinely just become the solution to hounds, and in groups of 4+, the solution to any raid boss you plant them around. I really don't like the idea of the game devolving into placing guard towers everywhere and then having them murder absolutely everything. Recruiting boss tier monsters is a cool concept, however these guys seem a little too strong for their cost, plus it also feels really out of place being able to permanently recruit such a powerful ally. The closest thing we've had to this was the cave stalker, and it was less of a follower and more of a rabid pitbull that'd just kinda follow you around. It also took up your hand slot, as you needed the shadow thurible to have it follow you. Tldr; they're cool, but too strong for my liking in their current state, and I'm not likely to use them outside of the odd boss rush here and there, as I feel like it'd quickly detract from my gameplay experience. You can, of course, attract it with waymark compass. But they don't go to the surface.
