Somebody on a server I'm in (thanks Mr. Glasses) let me know that the fight is actually pretty doable solo without relying on the Bone Helmet or Nightmare Amulet.

The Tower Guards tend to just stand there if there's already one close to you. They'll only join in and take a swing at you if you get too close to them. This means that, with patience and careful positioning, you can take each of them down one-by-one, all by yourself.

In my experience, I ran some circles around the arena, baiting out a single golem's attacks to land hits and to pull it away from the others, while occasionally switching targets if another golem was getting too close.

(ignore the rift gear in my hotbar, I didn't use it)

You should probably bring more equipment (and ideally make less misplays) than this, but this is just to show that it's possible.

(Please let me know if there's any issues with this video, as I haven't tried uploading a video on here before)

so they are double-strong treeguards that can do a lil' hop?

did they act differently for you?

No, they behave exactly the same way as in this video.
But that's the thing. It seems unintentional.
The main aspect of this fight is pulling one Tower away from the others so you can take it down, etc.
So the fact that when you're close to one Tower, the others will just stand and do nothing until you get into their attack range seems just weird.

-shrugs- while i was being somewhat glib before this really is mostly how treeguards work they attack when close and otherwise just slowly lumber in your direction without swiping.

it's deliberate.

Void Masque zombies also have this crowd AI where each one takes their turn while the rest watches
