I love the Telelocator Focus upgrade! Will we be able to upgrade The Lazy Deserter with Polished Orb Fragment, too?

This sounds a little unreasonable as these two kind of teleportation are not the same thing. It is wired that the method to upgrade purple one works on the orange one, too.

But let's have a look at what Polished Orb Fragment really did for the Telelocator Focus. They replaced the purple gems. That's it. They are just purple gems that won't consume. They didn't change its teleportation mechanics.

As for the new function, portating by opening the map and right click the upgraded Telelocator Focus settled? Well ,it feels more like Polished Orb Fragment's own thing. Different mechanic, different visual effect, different cost (one use of Telelocator Staff/a Polished Orb Fragment), different limitation (portating is available in caves). So compared to "upgrade", maybe the better description is "combination"

All right the above is the concerns on background story. About the actual game, The Lazy Deserter is a more common teleportation structure compared to Telelocator Focus. I mean, in multiplayer game, we would build the Lazy Deserter next to every fixed important places compared to Telelocator Focus. So when we create a Polished Orb Fragment, we just need to upgrade existing Lazy Deserters instead of building new Telelocator Focus.

Of course Polished Orb Fragment should give Lazy Deserter's original function some conveniences. Maybe you can also right click Polished Orb Fragment to teleport to the Deserter activated by your teammate (to save your inventory slots so you don't have to take the desert stone.) and Polished Orb Fragment and desert stone won't consume?

The upgrade would consume 3 Polished Orb Fragment, same as Telelocator Focus. Maybe we can realize the upgrade by place 3 Fragment next to the Deserter and then they will tie to it. And they will have an unique floating animation when the Deserter tied is activated, like the desert stones.

It doesnt really need an upgrade.

The desert stone thing is just a way to use excess.

For single player players, there is no convenient teleportation method exclusive to a specific character that we have always wanted. It is a pity that the Lazy Portal, as a boss related loot, can only be used by multiple players, just like Resurrection Hearts.

Its useful for lowering your sainity, i make it in single player.

If you reach endgame and go trough the pearl's quest till the end, you get the portage counch that lets you teleport to her home 10 times (and it uses the dessert stone, so it ties tl antlion). Now it is lategame, and it only works on the surface, and only goes to pearl's house; but it is relieable. Also we have bootlegs as early as you find Frostjaw, they let you teleport anywhere in the watter including next to some shore. I usually also base next to a wormhole; all of this, plus if you are patient taming a beefalo, and land traversal is not that big of a hustle. The caves are another thing though, there are no options outside of Lazy Deserter which only works with friends (The telelocator does not work I think, it causes an earthquake).

I think it is valid that a game that has Together in the name has some items that improve the QoL for group plays. I am not against Klei buffing the Lazy Deserter with the new orbs in some way, but I just wanted to point out that there are some ways for all characters to teleport, even thought they are limitted and have their caviats.

Thank you bro, It's my fault for not making it clear. What I mean is that the Lazy deserter become completely useless in single player mode, which is a pity. After playing DST for a long time, I certainly know how to use other teleportation methods. But to be honest, I really think the two items you mentioned in my game process are relatively difficult to obtain and have limited effectiveness. Having better options is certainly better for players, and expanding the Lazy Deserter is a very good choice.

Desert Stone is a very cheap item that can be obtained in large quantities simply by delivering eggs to the Antlion. I think development time would be better spent focusing on things that truly need improvement.

I mentioned desert stone because of consistency, don't you understand?

The whole point is including Lazy Deserter into Polished Orb Fragment system. Don't miss the main point. Unless you insist that it is meaningless to give classic teleportation structure more attention and improvement.

What I understand is that this update shouldn't focus on Quality of Life (QOL), but on bringing new content. There's no problem with improvements to Night Light or Telelocator Focus, but it would be quite frustrating for me if an arc-closing update were disguised as a QOL update with various items that players want to modify. That's just my opinion, of course.

I don't get it, this is a beta and the Orb Fragment is not finished yet. What kind of qol or modifying existing items this suggestion is? Is improving new content a bad thing?

  • The loot that drops from the new Sanctum encounter in this first release is not finalized.  We have plans to tie those to Portation Orbs, and have another unique loot drop instead

I post this topic as I want the new Orb portation system get improved. Lazy Deserter is another suitable vessel for Orb Fragments, that's the whole point.

And this is just a suggestion, I accept different opinions, I won't get mad because Klei doesn't take this. There are so many topics suggest improving existing things in the forum. What kind of harm could a suggestion have? Don't stop eating just because of the risk of choking.

One egg to teleport against 3 purple gems (+ one use of the Telelocator Staff that costs 2 purple gems). It's obvious that The Lazy Deserter will be used more. The Lazy Deserter is already the cheapest teleport in the game.

Since it is absurdly easy to make and use The Lazy Deserter, I understand that your request goes in the opposite direction of what Klei seems to want, which would be to encourage people to use Telelocator Focus more and not exchange it for The Lazy Deserter.

In any case, good luck with your request.

One egg? Seriously? You sound as if your teammates are available to activate any Deserter anytime. Desert stone consumption is never a thing needs to be stressed. You can't just consider material cost and ignore what really matters.

I said, it feels more like a combination than upgrade. Telelocator Focus is a vessel for Orb Fragment, and I suggest that making Deserter another vessel. If the low cost Telelocator Focus is as convenient as you imagine, why would Klei design a new and relatively independent Orb Fragment portation system at all?

Oh, besides, Telelocator Focus is not only for teleport players, what about mobs? How do we teleport mobs to pointed locations when all the Telelocator Focuses are activated by Orb Fragment? I don't know what Klei wants, but this is definitely not a kind of encouragement.

I think in a way, the buff to telelocation will also indirectly buff the lazy deserter. The lazy deserter is insanely easy to use and really efficient for what it does. The only issue with it is that you needed a character with a teleport (Wortox, Winona, or Wanda) to really make it go from convenient to game changing.

With the upgrades to the telelocator focus, placing a lazy deserter next to one gives your whole team a cheap teleport, as one person uses the orb fragment, and the others can use a desert stone. I don't think the lazy deserter needs anything else, as the new synergy with telelocator focus is really strong
