I see where you're coming from. Affinity skills should incorporate the shadow theme without feeling disconnected from the character itself; that sounds logical. While the previous version felt a bit more like something Maxwell would do, the current one doesn't feel 'shadowy' enough to me. Regardless, I’m still bothered by the fact that they nerfed the abilities alongside the design changes, even though it was supposed to be just a visual update.

yea, they could just change the shadow whip to be a drone getting out of wx and going in the sky to scan around to be the new vex vfx, and for the hands could be little drones, but the need to craft and overall changes are really not necessary

I agree on both fronts honestly the current shadowy aura isn't enough design wise and it could stand to be better gameplay wise.

Are you going to at least agree that the drones don't look shadow-aligned enough, or is this debate a complete lost cause and a waste of text?

Honestly I don't get why you are being so hostile about this just because I didn't agree in the way you wanted me to.

Wolfgang can cast spells with his perk tree, though.

There he is, with a wizard hat and everything.

Does this mean Walter is also a wizard since he does have freeze rounds... hmm Wizard scout and Strongman evil beings beware!

Walter has an awful lot of weird magic stuff now haha. Have you seen his pure horror rounds and teleporting dog mount?

He just needs a wizard hat.

Honestly, I don't know why either; I shouldn't even care this much given that WX isn't my main, even if I enjoy playing them.

I guess I'm just upset about a thematic change screwing over a character's feature once again, but unlike Wendy, where the means to activate the feature was nerfed while the feature itself remained the same, the mechanics of this feature changed for the objective worse when we were given the idea that it wasn't going to be changed that way in the first place.

The worst part is that it's the shadow affinity that's being gutted, while the lunar affinity is further improved as time goes on.

To be fair it's more so just him shaping them into slingshot ammo and shooting those objects at enemies and that process releasing the energies stored inside whatever he shaped into ammo.

While I get it I think that energy is better spent trying to get them to improve what's already there as even if it's tiptoeing they seem to be receptive to improving the drones

That being said I kinda feel like they planned to nerf it when it went live regardless. While I can't be sure it does seem weird that they'd just randomly decide to nerf the skill purely because people asked for it to be more thematic knowing how negatively it would affect the future feedback when they didn't plan to change the effect.

the biggest problem is that we don't have a light to guide us, we don't have any idea what was the objetive of the skill tree, if the devs said that their goal was to reach A or B, but we receive nothing, the community was in the dark most of the time, the only thing we knew was that something big was coming, at the beginning people are speculating it would be the gammas, we received, in a raw state, but the devs at least said that it's just to see our reaction, then they got more refined but the community noticed that most of them are niche, so the speculation was that the affnities was the reason the devs feared that wx could be a power house, but they are not all that, in resume we still don't now where they want to bring the shadow side, which make it a dificult job to give proper feedback

no they didnt work off screen.

The world's Wobot has worked off screen since it was introduced in its beta. It even has code to determine the distance of objects to mimic the time it takes if it was loaded onscreen (alongside usual durability loss). Winona's Winbot has been the only case where it doesn't work off screen.

I am kinda with you on this.. could have been a red tinted bio scanalizer vfx. that being said, despite the screen clutter, 4 auto grabbers turns WX into a looting power house.

exploiterator could probably be more consistent if they tagged things for a few seconds which would probably help in multiple mob situations as well as general buff uptime.

autograbbers on the other hand could try to loot things you already have in your inventory? (i could see people arguing for and against this).

it would be nice to have a combined upgrade for horror and atrium just to have the old compounded choice. Also on that note does the pure horror have a counterpart to the trees and mimics that atrium has? I didn't notice anything when I was fiddling with it.

Spoiler

and I will say it again. backup chassis should be made portable for the owners and not hammerable

Proposed WX-78 Rework Adjustments & QoL Improvements
I believe these changes would greatly improve WX-78’s gameplay flow, especially regarding utility and visual clarity.

Circuit & Module Tweaks
  • Transport I: Increase storage capacity to 6 slots. This makes it a more viable alternative to high-tier backpacks.
  • Transport II: Add the ability to dock and carry heavy chassis (heavy lifting). This would be a massive QoL improvement for the Lunar Grotto and transporting heavy statues/pieces.
  • Warm Standby: This should be a baseline passive for WX-78. Removing the circuit requirement frees up space for more interesting builds without sacrificing thermal management.
  • Field Survey II: Bring back the auto-exploration feature. Allowing the drone to reveal the map independently would streamline the early-to-mid game scouting.
  • Shadow Affinity: Change the drone's model from a flying unit to a ground-based unit. This reduces "visual clutter" and prevents the drone from obscuring the player's view or interfering with clicking on world objects.

Improved Gathering Logic
  • Global Gathering: Instead of a limited radius, the drone should function based on inventory filtering. If you place a specific item in one of its slots, the drone will seek out that item until its capacity is full, then automatically deposit it into the player's inventory. This allows players to "set" what they want to farm (e.g., twigs or grass) without constant micromanagement.

Combat & Synergy
  • Battle Drone Redesign: Replace the current attack drone with an Area Scanner. This scanner would create a field that synergizes with the  Spin-Cycle Circuit, perhaps debuffing enemies or boosting WX-78’s stats within the zone. Alternatively, move away from drones entirely for combat to keep the focus on WX-78's own power.
