Hi! First of all, I want to say that I really appreciate the effort the developers are putting into this open beta. It’s clear that a lot of work and care was made for improving the system, and I’m genuinely excited about whats coming next.

That said, I’d like to share some small and hopefully easy-to-implement suggestions regarding the Beta and Gamma Circuits. My intention is simply to help refine what is already implemented. Right now, I still find myself using mostly the same circuits as before the skill tree (Optoelectronic and Acceleration) mainly because they feel more convenient and reliable compared to the others.

Because of that, I’d love to advocate for a few tweaks that could make more circuits feel viable and rewarding to use:

BETA CIRCUITS

  • Super/Illumination Circuits: Super-Illumination Circuit.pngIllumination Circuit.png
    • We can keep the Illumination Circuit as a directional light. However, it would be great if the Super-Illumination Circuit were exclusively omnidirectional (a standard light around the player) and provided at least a “torch-level” light radius, since it’s meant to be an upgraded version of the circuit. This would make it feel much more impactful and worth using.
  • Refrigerant & Thermal + Spatializer Circuits: Refrigerant Circuit.png Thermal Circuit.pngSpatializer Circuit.png
    • Currently, these circuits don’t seem to stack their spoilage rate modifiers when using two at once, and they also don’t affect items stored in the Spatializer circuit slots. This feels a bit inconsistent, especially since those slots are still part of the main inventory. Allowing proper interaction here would make these circuits more useful.
  • Range Booster Circuit:Rangebooster Circuit.png
    • This is a great addition! It’s very useful when you have an extra slot to fill. However, I think it could be even better if it also increased map reveal range. This would allow WX-78 to contribute more to exploration and help teammates by sharing map progress through the Cartographer’s Desk. Since a similar feature already exists (like the pirate hat in Shipwrecked), this might be a relatively simple but meaningful improvement.

GAMMA CIRCUITS

General Feedback
A simple sound cue indicating when a circuit cooldown has recharged would be extremely helpful for usability.

  • Redigestion circuit: Beta2_Redigestion_Circuit.png?2658a6
    • Currently, this circuit converts spoiled food into Nutribricks. While Nutribricks are great as fuel, they feel a bit underwhelming and somewhat impractical when considered as food or fertilizer.

    • One suggestion I’d like to propose is replacing Nutribricks with "Biofuel".image.png.877bc6d8e18a1b21cbd13e99af9140d5.pngBiofuel could offer a more versatile and rewarding outcome:

      • Can be used as fuel forFire Pit.png Endothermic Fire Pit.pngIce Flingomatic.pngWinona's Generator 2.pngMiner Hat.pngLantern.png granting +1.5 min.

      • It doesn't spoil

      • Stack up to 40.

    • Overall, this change could turn the circuit into a more satisfying option without drastically altering its core idea.

      • Another reason this change could feel very fitting is that it aligns with a real-world process called Pyrolysis, where spoiled food or waste is converted into useful fuels like "bio-oil" through high temperatures without oxygen. This connection could make the mechanic feel more intuitive and grounded, while also improving gameplay value.

  • Blocking Circuit:  Blocking Circuit.png
    • It would be great if this circuit provided full immunity against enemies knocking items out of your inventory while blocking. It already works against Moose/Goose attacks, but extending this to other creatures (like frogs,  armored Bearger, Lureplants, Powder Monkeys, etc.) would make the mechanic more consistent and reliable.

  • Sonic-Invoker Circuit: From Beta Files Sonic-Invoker Circuit icon
    • This circuit feels a bit clunky to use. Having to click on yourself to activate it interrupts the combat, and even after activation, enemies can still attack before being affected by the panic effect. Improving the responsiveness of creatures and making the activation more immediate would make it much smoother to use.

Personally I'd like to see a toggle for the illumination circuits, specifically one that would let you switch between a larger light radius and the cone of light. The cone is really jank, especially when it comes to kiting enemies, which when combined with the pathetic base radius of the circuit's light makes it an incredibly unappealing circuit to use.

On top of what you're suggesting, I think thermal circuits should have their stats changed so that the freezing/overheating overlays and sounds no longer appear. It's just unnecessary visual clutter considering youre quite literally immune to freezing/overheating while the respective circuit is plugged in.

I think it'd also be nice if Rangeboosters increased the travel speed of the item drone. Would make sense considering it buffs every other drone thing WX has.

Blocking Circuits should use Snurtle Shells (the one that lets you hide) in their recipe instead of Shelmets. They're much easier to get plus it I think it makes more sense considering Snurtle Shells kind of have a block-esque feature.

I can back up the sonic-invoker feeling clunky. It takes a second before enemies actually realize that you're using the ability, which can allow them to hit you and break you out of the channel. It's especially noticeable when fighting spider warriors/depth dwellers, who have a jump attack that lets them close the gap before the circuit can do anything.

That’s really good feedback, since I’m pretty sure we all appreciate seeing those small details get fixed.

  • A toggle For ilumination could be a part of the "Menu of abilities" that many people have Suggested before (If the person is reading this pls feel free to reply your suggestion)
  • I'm pretty they will fix Overlays and sounds when youre inmune to heat and cold.
  • Sounds cool. The item drone is already pretty fast, but a little extra speed wouldn’t break anything.
  • I would change it so it requires Snurtle Shell armor, which has a 75% drop chance. You can force Slurtles to spawn using certain techniques. It makes more thematic sense since this is already a function the armor has and it should be inherited by the  blocking circuit.
  • Exactly, in the spoilers I share some example of it but that applies to many enemies.

I've always thought that Sound Invoker should have an initial sonic boom with more range that stuns everything in the area, including bosses, and then its normal function of permanently stunning normal mobs.
