I ran into 3 annoying problems while using it:

1. The collect effect from it keeps putting trash into your inventory, making so you have to CONSTANTLY keep managing your inventory at all times, it can get very tiring. Especially annoying if your playstyle involves leaving items dropped at base instead of in chests (I can imagine if you like to use items for decor it would also pick up the decoration, making so you have to place it back where it was which I get annoyed just thinking about).

The fact that it only picks up 1 item from a stack at a time makes it seem like it is doing it just to spite you, reminds me of my friend that tries to put "useless" items in my inventory when he thinks I'm not looking (deer antlers as an example), except now I have to battle against the affinity AND my friend. Please help I am getting outnumbered :wilson_ecstatic:

2. While running around
collecting world-generated resources the collect effect makes you actually collect stuff SLOWER, it depends on the distance of the resource it's trying to gather and how many speed circuits you have, but more often than not what happens is: You collect one thing, it starts to collect something nearby, you go to the thing it is trying to collect and you have to WAIT for it to drop the item on the floor, because if you don't your gathering animation is going to be cancelled anyway.

OR you are just able to run in front of it and collect the resource before it gets to it, which is faster but makes you feel like you are constantly fighting against it.

3. Placing a chassis to collect resources at base (transplanted grass/twigs for example), makes so other players have to ask you to transfer conciousness back to base if they need the resource. If WX is in the caves, the other players have to either wait for them to get back or... hammer the chassis :wilson_shocked:

For 1, a way to toggle specifically the collect effect ON/OFF would suffice (You could take it out every time you want to turn the effect off, but then you have to always take your Circuit Extractor with you and go through the animation to take it out and put it back in any time you want to toggle any of its effects, which is very not ideal).

For 2, make so when the tendrils go out to collect they send the resource directly to your inventory instead of dropping it on the floor.

And for 3, give us the toggle to let other players open our chassis just like how Walter gets to decide if other players may or may not open Woby.

You can unplug from the shadow slot with 0 downsides.

That is 2 inventory slots as a downside, one for the circuit extractor and another for the item that was on the slot. Granted, we do have a lot of leeway with the drone chests, but still. There are also no downsides to adding a toggle

I’d say on average I have remembered to remove the heart like 50% of the time. It’s free, for sure, it’s just one more thing to do every time you walk near builds. A flip switch for the gather ability would be nice; I’d probably have it off most of the time.

I’d also be totally fine if the gather ability was limited to slotting nightmare fuel. Like you say, it’s free to swap that slot if actually needed.
