I think the current limit on the number of backups WX-78 can have is too restrictive. I love the backups because they're an interesting take on revival, circuit loadouts and teleportation.

The only issue I've had with them so far is that the limit on the number of backup bodies you can have in a world is too low. I want to have various backups throughout the world to take care of different tasks without having to walk all the way there, and I also want to have some backups just for specialized circuit loadouts.

4 bodies total just doesn't really cut it for me and I wish I could have more so I could afford to use them on less-than-optimal things.

I've seen a good suggestion that they gain ramping costs but go much higher .
Like the first backup is 1 gear and 1 red gem, then the next is 2 of each, 3,4,6,8,10,15,20,25, etc.
Probably easier if the more backups used maybe added different crafting materials instead of higher numbers though because that's a lot of gems being used.

Can't agree more. I like the idea that costing more materials instead of quantity limitation.

WX can build more backups as the game proceeds, which is much more interesting.

Would be awesome! Though I think you'd be able to get around it if you repeatedly died with the perk that spawns creates a chassis instead of dropping your items and reviving via other means, so I wonder how they'd handle that.

Just tie it to an inventory slot for each backup. WX is already clearly overpowered even before gamma circuits — it feels like he can do everything, and somehow that’s still not enough for you. At this rate, downsides are starting to feel like a thing of the past.

Walking to a location is now feeling restrictive...?

I feel like the point of these backups is for the player to make the most with what is essentially the most powerful swiss army knife in the constant. But theyre restrictive because they havent completely overtaken the need to walk altogether...?

It's not about having to walk anywhere for me - I already have a "combat chassis" that I routinely walk across the world from boss to boss, and I don't mind it. The amount of things I keep on my character that I would need to send over to a new chassis every time I want to "teleport" already makes the entire process too much of a hassle for me to even pretend this matches Wanda, Wortox or Winona teleports (and I don't think it needs to!) WX-78 already has access to strong passive speed boosts that makes traversing the map bearable compared to other characters.

Seriously, I would not refer to this as "teleportation" nearly to the degree these forums seem to be interpreting it as. It's amazing for accessing a single fixed location repeatedly, but you cannot deviate from that one location too far because the chassis you teleported to is not going back where you'd want it to be on its own. It doesn't bring any of your existing equipment or circuits automatically, so you have to send over all the circuits and equipment you need and wait for the energy bar to reach full capacity, which is made especially awkward by the fact that switching between chassis resets the charging timer, which means you need to stick with the new chassis for a while probably doing nothing in a remote area for it to gain full charge.

The part that feels restrictive about it is the number of "loadouts" I can have on standby. Being able to instantly transfer to the backup across the map helps a lot (and I do have a couple of backup chassis for that particular purpose) but I'm more interested in having more chassis specialized in more niche tasks, and possibly keeping a chassis or two around as a weaker fridge or scaled furnace. I think just a couple more chassis would be nice for that.

As it stands, one of my chassis is going to stay at the base, one is going to be equipped for boss fights and I'm left with one chassis to do something actually interesting with. As I'm writing this message it's sitting at Pearl's Island since it's helped me reach max friendship with her, and once I make Pearl move out I'm going to finally use that chassis for something else.

And its not like i took it out of context cause you say AND having specialized loadouts after.

Having to choose what loadouts are the most important to occupy precious slots is part the downside. Having something so incredibly versatile to the point where each loadout is almost another character. Seems reasonable to me.
