Swiyss
I am kind of done with trying to set the best possible combination of features for dst, and that's because I am having a hard time trying to figure out what options actually work and what don't. I wanna share what DID work for me, and also what didn't. These settings made the game look much better for me. In the AMD Adrenalin software, open Gaming and select dst. In the advanced tab: _Anti-Aliasing = Enhanced application settings _Anti-Aliasing Method = Supersampling _Morphological Anti-Aliasing = Enabled _Anisotropic Filtering = Enabled _Anisotropic Filtering Level = 16x _Texture Filtering Quality = High _Surface Format Optimization = Disabled _Tessellation Mode = AMD Optimized _ OpenGL Triple Buffering = Enabled Now the issue I'm facing is to actually try to have a smoother gameplay. I have a 180hz monitor, but the game is capped at 60 frames per second. In my eyes, it feels like I'm lagging, but I'm not, and that's because my cursor is at 180fps but the game and everything else is at 60fps. If any devs or anyone who understands how amd features work could give me and insight on what best settings to set (amd chill, amd anti-lag, wether V-sync or Adaptive sync is the best choice etc..) I would really appreciate. For now, my game is always laggy and 40fps-like, even though it says it's at 60 and I have a pretty beefy computer. Any thoughts? And any NVIDIA insights as well? Jakepeng99
What does this mean lol I thought this was about AMD the person. 1 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169985-best-amd-adrenalin-recomendations-for-playing-dst/#findComment-1853357 Share on other sites

Basically whenever I open dst, it sets my monitor to 180hz. But the game should actually set the monitor to 60hz, because with 60hz it's just way better. I'm just having a hard time finding out how to do this on amd since there are just so many settings for hz and fps. Ok so I finally fixed this issue. The problem I was having was that the game was at 180fps, but when I put it to 60, it would rewrite back to 180. I didn't want to play on 180 because there is some weird screen tearing and the game feels like it's at 45/50fps instead of 60. I fixed it by going to documents/klei/donotstarvetogether/client.ini and putting fullscreen = on and frames per second to 60. Then right clicking client/ini -> properties -> check the box "read only". Now my desktop is at 180hz, but when I open the game, it goes to 60hz. If I alt tab back to desktop it goes back to 180hz. Making so that it will only be at 60hz when the game is open and at fullscreen. If you have a display that has 120hz, 144hz 180hz etc.. Do this, the game will be twice as smooth in 60hz then in higher hertz settings. Captain_Rage
Isn't the internal tick rate / cycles where the game performs calculations limited to 60 per second anyway? It sounds counterproductive to try to set the refresh rate of the monitor higher than that, unless it's the refresh rate you use outside the game. Idk as well, for some reason playing at 180hz was lagging the game, but putting it at 60hz just made the game smooth again. I'm not an expert but that WAS happening, I just don't know why. AriaMain
So i usually play on a 60hz monitor and im planning on buying a 180hz monitor next month, and i am aware dst is capped at 60. (I also play with an AMD graphics cards) Is it going to feel weird to play dst without doing many changes? And is there anything we can do to make dst smoother to use our monitor full capabilities, even if it's something improvise? And does the same thing happen in singleplayer don't starve? I think you should just try playing it at 180hz, If it feels weird like it did with me, then just try following my steps to set the game to 60hz whenever it opens. And I think this is only an amd issue, but I can't know for sure since I don't have an NVIDIA graphics card.
