Luck as it is now is a cool concept and is already pretty good with the ways you can manipulate it! 

 

There is a lot of potential in this mechanic already namely with Wes! Turning Wes into a luck based character starting with lower luck but maybe being able to use that to his advantage or even manipulating luck and having him become a very beneficial character to have around to get more out of the world could be very fun and make Wes a genuinely thought out and interesting character to play and experience!

 

you could even go further into luck as a whole and have more random events happen based on it. For example if you are so very unlucky maybe lightning will strike you over a lightning rod or a meteor will hit you even though you’re not in a meteor field. Maybe pinecones could fall on your head when cutting trees down(like coconuts in shipwrecked) all of these also come with some positives like preventing a volt goat from getting struck or getting free rocks or getting more pinecones. 
 

All in all I’m very excited to see where this mechanic leads and I really hope more comes of it!

mmmm, maybe let's not add stuff that can be used to grief or can be pointed at as a reason to ban wes players for potential griefing. lightning can run a chance of fires starting and meteors can destroy constructs(as well as take out 50 of wes' max 75 health, yikes). so having these things be unavoidable isn't really idea for a game where you are expected to play with others

 

for sure though the bad luck thing IS exciting though. hunts and gekos in particular are super interesting and i can imagine getting -less- lucky bunnies can be useful for people who spend a lot of time in caves(though rip ever getting another green gem in tumbleweeds, lol)

Admittedly I don’t play the game multiplayer much and less so with randoms so I wasn’t really thinking of that. I can definitely see why they probably shouldn’t add stuff that could be used maliciously.

yeah, i like playing in pubs with strangers so i kind of prioritise those situations

i think it would be pretty cool if wes's luck could influence pirate spawning though. just have the odds of a sloop spawning in be increased slightly within a certain radius of the player
