I don't know about you, but I'm starting now to use the "official" geometric placement in the game and I'm noticing a problem. The grid showes up everytime when I want to place something and the only way to disable it in real time is by holding shift.

Is this the only way right now? 

Because I liked more geometric when I hold control to show up the grid when I want instead of the opposite. Going up to the menu to disable it when I just want to place a few pinecones or campfire or whatever and activate it when I want to build something perfectly in my base seems very.... impractical.

 

I think you can invert it in the settings somewhere because it's disabled for me by default and shows when holding shift

Edit: I quickly checked and if you set structure alignment to 'disabled' in advanced settings shift will enable the grid otherwise it will be disabled

It’s annoying & intrusive to gameplay on Xbox. I highly dislike it, but it was such a highly requested feature that I can not blame Klei for having added it. I do not even know if there’s a way to toggle it off or not on Xbox. Having to explain every little change to the game to my friends and how to reverse those changes or adapt to them ultimately drove them all away from DST. To me this is something that felt like a mod that should have remained a mod.

Counterpoint: This has been the best thing they've added to console. I've played through two worlds all the way to scion, before and after kleimetric was added, and it's really day and night when it comes to building bases. It can even work well for some farms too. It's lacking in some features like building in the corner of tiles, but it's good enough as it is.

BUT PLEASE MAKE IT WORK WITH TILLING! Tilling with a mouse without geo-placement is bad enough, tilling with a controller is even worse, specially because you can't till and plant comfortably because the dig button is the same as the till button (with the shoevel)

I'm okay if they lock auto-tilling behind wurt's merms, even if it kinda sucks for those playing offline, but manual tilling needs a QOL asap. It shouldn't take me 3 full minutes to plant 9 seeds in a plot

Why tho? Like really, why? It's completely removable in the game, as confirmed above and it doesn't hurt a fly and thank Alter we finally have it!

On Playstation, you can disable it in the in-game settings under HUD. I assume it’s the same for Xbox? 

I turn it off whenever I want to place structures that don’t fit with the alignment, mostly in corners or in between the alignment intervals.

Also transparency setting would be extremely extremely helpful (or a setting to make reverse it so the grid outlines are green and the placeable grids are able to be seen)

But yea I 100000% agree. As a console player, this is the best change to the game in YEARS for me, it has the aforementioned issues (and also that all the types of it except the biggest one actually miss certain spots but im kinda too stupid to explain that and im not sure exactly why it happens, it is p annoying tho) but it has been a life saver and made the game so much more intuitive, if it just got a liitttllleee bit more polish itd be so perfect
