I'd like to see Wes's abilities expanded with a skill tree:

  • His speed balloon lasts longer and gives a bigger boost
  • It would be fun if one balloon, if popped by a creature, makes them "it" (like in the game of "Tag) so that any nearby creatures (in a radius) aggro on them.  I love running in circles trying to get one creature to aggro on another and am continually disappointed (not in a way that you should change anything) to discover that Treeguards and Spiders will always be peaceful to one another.
  • Like Walter's Poop Pellets (which I never use, so this would be perfect for Wes) a balloon should cause a creature to lose aggro.  Or maybe, like when MacTusk gets too far from his igloo, they just turn around and walk away, dejected.
  • Maybe balloon bumpers for boats?

Outside of the skill tree, I'd love to see even a few of Wes's miming actions have some meaning.  Even if the player had to learn to decode them, such as having Wes spell out numbers using ASL (American Sign Language) or Semaphores.  There are a few points where him being mute is just disappointing.  I'm thinking about the Fish Scale, and hounds/deerclops.  Really, the hound/deerclops animations would be fun - he could mime the specific monsters or ground-shaking, etc.

Anyway, Wes is fun and cute.  I'd like more of him.  I know he's technically the worst character, except maybe for Walter, who is another of my favorites.

Idk why, but I always wanted Wes to be able to use balloons in combat. Since rn they do like 5 damage when popped.

So of course my thoughts went to a nuclear explosion balloon. A big balloon that explodes to do huge aoe damage.

Post-skill tree, Walter is actually really strong.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it possible to make a lunar spider attack a treeguard with its spike attack, get the treeguard to attack the lunar spider, and then have other normal spiders nearby be aggressive towards it?

This is a fun idea and I like it, but I'd sort of question whether or not bosses should want to play tag. I think you should be able to make it so that beefalo/hounds/etc want to play tag with whatever you use the aggro balloon on even if that's Armored Bearger, but should we be able to, say, make the Twins target anything we want?

I loved Walter before he was cool.  I like making the various sling-shots with the new skill tree!

Cool!  I never thought to bring regular spiders to the lunar island or vice-versa.  I'm guessing you play a lot of Webber?

I hadn't thought of that.  Agreed - that would be OP.  Bosses should not get aggrivated by Wes' balloons, but their minions should, even if that means that Dragonfly/Eye-of-Cthulhu/Klaus pops a balloon and the Lavae/Peepers/Deer attack the boss, not the other way around.  That would be devastating with stun lock, but hard to pull off, and maybe Wes has a timer where he's crafting a taunting balloon sculpture so he can't spam these things.  The aggro should last maybe 5-10 seconds?  If a fellow adventurer pops a balloon, that could be a problem for them in some situations.

Hear me out hear me out

wes can craft pantomime walls that actually have collision, but maybe they have 1 hp and/or go away after a while. I think this would have a lot of utility without being op, and it’s also really funny (which is more important)
