Cruvimaster
We should have an alternative version of the butterflies captured from the evil flowers, so that they become new evil flowers when planted. I would also like this planted version of these trees to spawn dark flowers. 5 3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169028-dark-butterfly-version/ Share on other sites
gaymime
wouldnt that entirely invalidate haunting flowers though? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169028-dark-butterfly-version/#findComment-1845023 Share on other sites

Having to kill your character for that purpose isn't something I find necessary. And having new QOL options is exactly what Klei was aiming for at this point with salt (which can be obtained in large quantities by paying the sailing price). Having a new version of the butterfly would be incredible and useful at this point in the game. It's important to note that the dark flowers will only be truly useful when you unlock the tea with Pearl. They have no real use in the early game. It was definitely a low-value item before this update (except for Wendy) and therefore didn't generate interest in larger quantities of this resource. New times, new solutions. And since it will have the same production process as normal flowers, the balance is maintained. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169028-dark-butterfly-version/#findComment-1845025 Share on other sites
Milordo
Agreed and nice. There has been, a lot of ideas for dark flowers renewability but: 1) It's not about new times, new solutions. It's about balance, which the game screams for eons in all its parts. 2) I would suggest to make these ideas/feedback in other updates (especially when ancient echoes part 2 will come) since this one it's heavily linked on Pearl and little in Lunar Island. BB Marioni
I agree that dying should not be an intended method of obtaining certain materials in the game. I understand that dark flowers were a rare source of nightmare fuel years ago, but these days there are so many sources that it just doesnt make sense to make dark flowers that difficult to obtain. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169028-dark-butterfly-version/#findComment-1845041 Share on other sites

I can't say it would since haunting flowers into evil flowers was some what niche to begin with and didn't really benefit much of anything, aside from some sanity farms back in the day involving Abigail's flower. Getting shadow-y butterflies to spawn from evil flowers and thus be planted as evil flowers doesn't really break anything, you still would need 4 dark petals to make one nightmare fuel and that isn't nearly as good just killing nightmares or any other way we have. (side note, would be better for people who want a dark flower garden for looks, the evil flowers look pretty cool) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169028-dark-butterfly-version/#findComment-1845073 Share on other sites

Schneid_101
I think you can still make evil flower farms using homeless bees. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/169028-dark-butterfly-version/#findComment-1845104 Share on other sites
