Frog Legs, Raw Fish, and Fish Morsel should have their own jerky versions that preserve their original properties. These items are essential for unique recipes in the game, which are lost when using the Drying Rack.

Devs, please provide a version for each of these items with the standard reward of increasing durability by 20 days.

also fix the problem where items on the rack keep spoiling

I think that's intentional.

The old drying rack prevented spoilage while drying completely, but only 1 item.
New rack allows spoilage to continue when raining (makes sense) but you can dry 3 items at a time now. Seems balanced to me.

I used the old rack religiously and this new one was forced onto me without my consent so no, it better not have any new drawback.

What about the bat stuff too?

Sometimes things get balanced, happens in almost every game.

It's already really powerful, to not only fully reset the spoil timer of meat, but also extend its original spoil time by a factor of 3,3.

The only downside now, is that you can't do it last minute anymore, or during long periods of rain. In my experience since the change, that only means you either have the ability to read the rain book in spring, or you just can't dry much during that season.

Not really much of a drawback, and actually makes a lot of sense, that things can't safely dry, when they're exposed to rain for days on end.

"balance" and "sense" certainly aren't the point I'm talking about here.

The point is something old and established was changed unprompted and unasked for, so it's only fair it does not get an additional negative in the process.

Imagine if wolfgang's double damage was nerfed down to 1.75 but hey its balanced because you no longer need to waste so much food to be mighty.

Plenty of people asked for it, especially after Walter got his skill tree. That's why the devs delivered on it.

And well, almost everyone loves new Drying Rack, so... Just deal with it, I guess?

Dude, do they have to consult with you on every issue?

Bat jerky bat with 3.33x bat bat durability, +3 sanity/hit, +10 hp/hit and 60 dmg.

That's fresh Hambat dmg, with 250 uses, heals 1.5 times the amount a normal bat bat does, and you gain sanity instead of draining it.

You sure that's a fun and balanced item? 😅

Under this statement betas wouldn't exist, no bad changes would be reversed, the forum itself wouldn't exist. You just don't like the other person

I mean... The other person literally said that the change was "unprompted and unasked for", when the reality is that people asked for it a lot during a beta because of Walter's Skill Tree.

And when it was announced that it was coming in a future beta if time allowed, people were super hyped about it and kept asking devs about it.

So... Well, that whole post was kinda silly, so it kinda deserved the kind of reply it received.

At the end of the day, the Drying Rack change started in a beta and was heavily asked for in a beta too, so... Well, devs gathered plenty of feedback on it already.

Okay, I searched a little bit. It wasn't really asked for it to be nerfed, it was asked for it to dry 3 items at the same time and be able to be able to take items being dried. And for that spoilage time had to be added. So... necessary bad, I agree. But I still keep my comment, using that kind of cheap lazy statement just because you know people agree with you.

I don't like him because he's just a cry baby.
People like him are never constructive in discussions, they just whine

I largely agree with you. I think jerky is mediocre but the one sole benefit it had for me was that it could basically recycle food that was near expiration. Taking that away, the literal only thing I ever actually cared about from jerky, completely stopped me from using it.

you dont like the health and sanity increase dried has over cooked? i must confess having random racks in places and throwing meat onto them to pick up the next time i visited was pretty great when i didnt have a set base on a particular world and it still feels pretty good even if i cant do it with rotten meat anymore

I can do a lot more with the food in its un-jerkied form. Jerky on its own isn't that useful; it doesn't quite heal enough to use in combat and it uses the slow eating animation making it terrible for panic-eating. I usually base in firefly desert, so cactus is always nearby for sanity, and there are oodles of easier ways to restore health.

Basically in the beginning I would have to sacrifice meat to get jerky which I could be using to just cook better stuff and in the late stages I have much better options available and Jerky just becomes an extra chore and I'll have bundled green mushrooms and blue mushrooms/dragonpies/pierogi/etc ready to pop when I need them.

The minor healing and sanity was decent as a general upkeep when running around base after throwing some expiring food on it so that it still has some use but it absolutely is not worth sacrificing fresh food for.

I'd rather only be able to make one at a time and not be able to retrieve it(both were never really a big deal) than to have a 3-jerky rack and being able to retrieve it myself. I just can't bother with Jerky anymore.

Just checking, and I'm not trying make a counter argument or anything because this sounds like it doesn't move the needle for you, but the way you worded your post; are you aware Jerky can be used for Crock-Pot dishes? Because it sounds like you think Jerky can't be made into dishes. Just want to put it out there if anyone reading this thread has this misconception.
