DST has been updated for so many years, and we have a lot of different biomes and environments, including oceans and caves, but they are all very scattered. What if we could organically combine them into better survival challenges? Players need to complete challenges according to specific conditions. Next, I will give some examples: 1.Desert Survival:Have you ever imagined a map entirely composed of deserts? It's always summer here, with very few basic resources. All the grass and saplings have withered, but there are plenty of tumbleweeds that can be opened to obtain various supplies. Players can receive insulated clothing and food at birth to support their initial survival. There are scattered small bases on the map, including farmland, refrigerators, sunshades, and boxes, etc. Watermelons are grown in the farmland, and there are also some supplies in the refrigerators and boxes. Merchants also roam in the desert, and players can trade with them. (DS)dragonfly come to search for survivors every once in a while, and players need to drive them away or kill them. Players need to adapt to surviving in the hot desert and find special items to pass levels, which need to be obtained through different methods: searching in the vast desert, opening tumbleweeds, trading with merchants, and killing dragonfly. 2.Lunar Journey : You were born on Moon Island. Unlike typical maps, the Moon Island here is as large as the mainland. In this world, you first need to learn the survival rules of Moon Island. There are more mutated creatures here, such as moon lizards, moon cows, and so on. The islands distributed in the ocean are ordinary biological communities, but the difficulty of survival there will be much higher, with a large number of walruses, killer bees, hunting dogs, and so on. You need to search for treasure maps in the ocean and go to these islands to dig out treasures. Handing over the treasure to the merchant can obtain the key to customs clearance. 3.Labyrinth Prison:You are very unfortunate this time, born in a very huge maze in the ruins area. Most of your things need to be obtained by opening the treasure chest. In the maze, you will encounter various "strange things", whether good or bad, such as opening a box that may reveal food or props, or the shadows that torment you. In some places, you may encounter obstacles and need to use various props to clear them, such as burning fire wands, using explosives to destroy, using lazy explorers to move, etc. Special items are scattered in the four corners of the maze. Gather them together and assemble them in the center of the maze to leave here. There are many more examples that I won't give one by one. To be honest, the adventure mode of DS has left a deep impression on me. I have always wanted to complete such survival challenges again, and I think this is also the essence of DS. When DST and Terraria collaborated, they created a special "map", but disappointingly, apart from changing the number of some organisms, there was almost no change. Without all the cheese that the developers have been giving away for 10 years. Your ideas are good, but Klei doesn't even want to implement the simplest ones.... Not to mention your resource-intensive ideas... It won't be worth their money... And I can list a huge category of games that will prove otherwise, but the TL:DR version is any “sequel” game that has all the features of the original while also branching in new ideas for the sequel. For example: could you ever imagine a modern day Sonic the hedgehog game without the ability to spin dash, or grind on railings? These are features that did not exist in the first Sonic but went on to exist in every entry afterwards. Or the Arkham games which carried over all your gadgets unlocked from previous games but added new ones alongside them each sequel. The thing to pay attention to is how the developers handle that new gameplay mechanic, is it something they randomly throw in somewhere that feels bizarre and highly out of place? Or is it something that the entire games core foundation considers & builds the gameplay around? With that said: there is such a thing as overusing a new gameplay mechanic- Such as Batman Arkham Knight, sure finally having the batmobile to drive around in was cool, what was not cool however is how much of the gameplay crammed it down your throat, from puzzle solving, to detective investigations, to boss fights it was clearly in areas of the game it didn’t belong in. and that’s exactly why when Gotham Knights released afterwards, vehicles were mainly only used for transportation & chase segments because people hated how overused the vehicles had been prior. When it comes to a game like DS/DST or even Minecraft, these games evolve and change overtime with new content & new ideas. Take Minecraft as an example: once upon a long time ago the snow blocks were only different colored and that’s all they were, but NOW players actually sink inside of the blocks & can smoother under snow. This is a mechanic that changed travel and combat in this biome forever. And if Klei were to implement the sliding around on ice mechanic (currently only used for dumb shark boi boss & pointlessly falling over on Pengull nests or frozen ponds) into its own huge signature island with mobs, harsher cold weather etc.. we’d have NEW stuff to learn, without erasing everything we know to start over. Bossrushers complain' what they have to EXPLORE in a RESEARCH game.... And also make finding moon Island and monkey Island even more obvious... Otherwise, it's really unpleasant for them to explore ... ( yes, let's ignore one part of the players for the sake of another, as Klei likes to do) To be honest, I think they may need to create a dedicated bossrush mode instead of forcefully mixing it with survival content like they are now. I have seen someone who can quickly kill many bosses, but knows nothing about seasonal challenges, resource management, and base construction.
