The new biome is certainly interesting, with its miasma-producing fumaroles, amazing boulderboughs, and Ripple, but it still feels rather empty. Especially before the rift is activated, when there are no mobs or miasma there yet.
Furthermore, due to the lack of boulderbough and fumarole regrowth, the player simply has to mine them all up and the entire biome loses its purpose. In fact, you don't even need a player to do this, as Ripple itself constantly destroys fumaroles and boulderboughs.

A good idea would be to implement boulderboughs and fumaroles regrowth.
It would also be a good idea to add large clusters of fumaroles to the biome, which would be indestructible and produce more heat and miasma than fumaroles that players can mine up.

It would also be important to add a mob to this biome that would add more life to the biome.
This could be, for example, a thermophilic variant of Depth Worms. Unlike regular Depth Worms, which are always wet, the thermophilic variant would always be dry and resistant to getting wet.
It would have 600 HP and 90 damage, and its unique feature would be generating high heat, overheating the player.
Thermophilic Depth Worms would respawn near the fumaroles every summer. So, if players wanted to have a base in this biome but not have to deal with Thermophilic Depth Worms, they could simply build it away from big fumaroles clusters and mine up regular fumaroles.
A unique item dropped by Thermophilic Depth Worms would be the Heat Berry. This fruit, when eaten, would warm the player for 4 minutes.
With 1 glow berry and 1 heat berry you could cook a dish that, when eaten, would warm up the player and give a glowing effect for 1 day.

Additionally, since the Thermophilic Depths Worm would be a variant of the Depths Worm, during autumn and summer, each Depths Worm attack would have a 50% chance of having a 1 Thermophilic Depths Worm.
While this would make the Thermophilic Depths Worm not a unique mob to the Fumarole biome. But the biome would still remain the primary location where this variant of the Depths Worm could be encountered.

And some smaller things include:

The biome needs unique turf.
The new turf could be similar to the current one, but it would be overgrown with boulderbough roots.
It would be crafted at a terrafirma thumper with two stones and 1 boulderbough seed.
Of course, the new turf doesn't have to replace the entire existing one. The biome can have both cave rock turf and a new, unique turf.

Fumaroles could have a wider heat range. Currently, you have to be really close to them to start overheating.
Additionally, perhaps when fumaroles perform their gas-puffing animation, they could increase the amount of heat generated for a while.

When fumaroles produce miasma, their texture gains red accents. Red, like pure horror, but unfortunately, they don't drop it when mined in this state. It's a shame, because they could drop just one.

Since boulderboughs received a amazing buff in the last patch, it would be a good idea to balance them and increase their growth time to 2-3 days.
With the increase in growth time, more growth stages could be added.
For Example:

It would be nice to add option to use embalming spritz on boulderbough.

Since boulderboughs are literally solid stones lifted by plants that players can walk under, they should, just like hardwood hat, protect against earthquakes when a player stands neat to them.

I agree with most of these arguments, this biome definitely needs a more unique character.
Personally, I’d love to see small miasma ponds with fluorescent fish swimming in them, it would add atmosphere and make the environment feel more alive.
I also like the idea of berries that warm up the player, but I’m not a big fan of Depth Worms, so I’d prefer to see another, more creative mob added here to fill the empty space and make the biome feel richer and more complete.

Taking this opportunity, I also have to criticize the design of the giant centipede.
I expect it to be a reliable source of dreadstone in larger quantities, but I’d really like to see some improvements made to its appearance.
Right now, it looks quite bad the head and tail segments need major rework to give them more character and a distinct shape.
At the moment, everything blends together into one big rectangle, which makes it very unpleasant to look at.

I like more for fumaroles what we have created here -->

Ye, why not.

Are you sure you tested well? I had constant heating up during my tests.

And final, yes more things to add to the biome but not plants and animals. I like it as a barren wasteland. Don't know if you get me. I like this version being a silent mysterious alien biome, it adds to the eerie atmosphere. Adding active animals and plants would destroy that. So yeah more things, but others please if possible. Rocks. strange minerals, strange silent rivers of water, ecc...

I'm not quite sure whether we need a Depth Worm variant here. But I agree that here needs some kind of animal. Otherwise it would be too empty and boring pre rift.

The new animal should interact with the heat generated from the Fumaroles, like Saladmander and Hot Spring. (I' m not saying it has to absorb the heat and transform into flame mode by the way.) It is a waste that Fumaroles' heat feature isn't deeply developed.

As far as posing an environmental threat I think so. I'm reserving my judgement until I've actually experienced the biome post-rifts, I've only visited it pre-rift so far.

Cool, thanks. I'm interested only on pre-rift experience, therefore I'm already happy from your confirmations!

This is one of the character portrait backgrounds in the game, I guess these creatures were part of a limited time event called “the Forge”, This background art is all that remains of them. I’d like for them to burst out of Furmarole like they appear to do in this image. :)
