I'm pretty satisfied that the goalpost has moved from "this portrayal of events isn't as it shows ingame" to "I find this to be bad writing" and i'm not going to bark up that tree more than I've already stated lol

To be clear, I still don't believe your portrayal.

The original goalpost is "The plot where players clearly know that Moon Quay is not a good place but still hand over the marked map to Pearl is too unreasonable" and you haven't reached it.

Pearl was by far the worst addition to this game; not only did she curse us with an annoying fetch quest to access the later stages of the game, we now have to treat her like a decoration and can't move the story forward without people complaining about her dumb island no longer being able to be turned into a resort theme park, or that we have to be the bad guy and relocate a useless cranky lady in between butchering werepigs that we tricked into transforming to harvest their skin and desecrating their houses and graveyard sites.

Well, you're not wrong, lol. Was there even half as much scrutiny over the characers' decisions made in this game for other things, like, you know, activating the ruins atrium portal against the warning of the Fuelweaver, then giving Charlie dreadstone so she can even repair aforementioned ominous portal?

Or slaughtering bosses that mind their own business like Bee Queen and Toadstool. Hell, we even kill Pearl’s boyfriend. We're the baddies, guys.

the famously functional legal system where neither the people effected nor the authority figures enforcing it ever act irrationally

It literally is functional. Don't straw man me dude, this is why I was done with continuing the convo, i'm not beating a dead horse.

Break the law if you don't think it's functional, you'll totally be fine.

It's probably best at this point if you stopped engaging, I can't speak to their motivations but it's definitely not to understand each others side.

If someone has to constantly point out what the other person has said, they're struggling to substantiate what THEY'RE trying to say. I'd leave it :p

It doesn't give insight into the survivor's reasons, which probably differs between characters. (Warly definitely cares about her, while WX-78 certainly doesn't. Wilson probably didn't think beyond houses sometimes exploding.)

I played Maxwell last time I did the quest line - Does Maxwell care about Pearl?
Fantastic point @Bumber64

I think it is worth considering that all characters have the desire to escape the constant and Wagstaff seems fit to help them in this regard (creating portals and all). Even if they do know where they are going to relocate Pearl to (I believe they do), many would likely still follow through with the plan just for the possibility of returning to their old lives.

With that being said, this should be clarified in game. Just giving every character dialog expressing their motives when inspecting/receiving the marked map would clear up a ton of confusion.

It's literally a portal. Survivors have no reason to trust AFW. They might take the warning into consideration, but they're not likely to stop until things start looking apocalyptic.

Insisting CK is dead feels like gaslighting at this point.

Exhibit A: The shadow maul evolves when you kill bosses. This is evident in how defeating scrappy/nightmare werepig or frostjaw does not count towards evolution, while killing Klaus counts as two (he does “die” midway, after all). Crab King also counts as a stack.

Exhibit B: Crab King drops big meat when you defeat him. Where did the big meat come from? He had some sort of meat pocket in his shell?

You're actually just killing his crown. It's a mutant rock lobster.
