@Echsrick Yea I agree with you Wormwood's downside isn't really a downside, it is just a change in how you play. Which is awesome! Much like how Wigfrid and Wurt's downsides aren't really downsides just changes how you play compared to "The Wilson Experience"

Isn't a downside a character specific challenge that changes your playstyle?

Like I said before, Downsides do not really translate well into a Multiplayer game.. Wormwoods inability to heal from most players common every day go to healing methods, means that you can not easily heal a Wormwood player by seeing that they are injured and rushing over to cram healing foods in their mouth (yes on Xbox you actually can force feed other players..)

With WW though it gets a bit tricky because and I hate to say this: his healing methods are mostly self-centered (And in a multiplayer context: could even be considered Selfish?)

Like I mean I totally understand why Klei decided to give WW weird gimmicky ways of healing (like forced bloom and standing out in sunlight) but it doesn’t make him any less of a selfish character.

I like being able to: Provide healing to a Team and if I were to bring along Pierogi to heal my buddies up, WW is just SoL.

how is he selfish, he provides living logs and farm food for ur whole team to eat and heal, so the left over resources can be his healing items

Still not the ideal character I’d want to bring with me on a long boating trip across the highly empty of much content ocean. If we all get pounded by pirate monkey or RockJaw WWs gonna need some special items/resources to heal up.

Most newbie WWs aren’t going to be running around with Bat-Bat healing, or compost wraps at the ready.

Ok... but what about Poultice or Salve? Or Manure, Rot. Wormwoods can also heal from sleeping too so a Tent, Lean-to, or even the horrible Bed Roll can do work. Most newbie WWs are going to heal from Rot and Poop which is more than enough to sustain a WW outside of combat scenarios, like boating trips.

If your deepest desire is to heal people, play Wortox and you'll easily heal everyone. Or Walter to share his really cheap tent with WW. WW isn't the issue because of an extremely specific scenario and desire of yours.

if u compare them perogies, they are certainly harder

Harder is probably right at least at first though once you setup reeds at base healing items are simply more convenient and easier to make as all it takes is grabbing the ingredients from base every few days.

I use riders exclusively but even then, while they do less damage they are still infinite weapons that are better than the walking cane. Still too powerful for my taste in game balance but it's just my opinion and all. Klei has the ultimate say in the end, given they introduced the Gloom Bell, they are definitely in favor of the Beef.

The lack of resource cost is balanced out by the fact you are spending 40 consecutive minutes whacking an enemy with a tool used as a bad weapon instead of doing anything better. An example of doing anything better is collecting resources.
