They can't sleep alone.

A dupe with somniphobia must have another dupe in the same room as them. The other dupe doesn't have to be sleeping (can be working) but they can't be alone in the room. They might also gain extra stress when they're trying to sleep but unable to because no one is in the room with them.

Also, I would make it a distance thing. Like, three tiles in either direction for another dupe to be near them.

Unless they also have the requirement for light, light would keep them awake... and noisy sleepers are still a pain, etc.

I think it's an interesting idea, but if you don't adjust the balance in various ways, it will end up being considered the optimal solution, just like other negative traits, and it will end up being the end of the road.

If you choose to sleep with someone, not only you but also your roommate will have to give up the Morale Bonus of the Private Bedroom. In addition, if you place two Comfy Beds side by side, they will be four cells away from each other, so it seems that you will need to reconsider the conditions. There will also be limited space to place decorative furniture.

If you don't share the same bedroom, for example, if you place a building that generates tasks so that someone is there for a long time, it will often be industrial machinery, which will even interfere with the Rooms condition of the Barracks.

If you were to adjust this condition, how about "it's okay for critters to be together instead of duplicates".
I think a bedroom with a pet would be an ideal living environment. In the beginning, you (reluctantly) accept room sharing, and after a while you'll live with Hatch (and be busy cleaning up the junk that rolls around on the floor), and eventually you'll enjoy a comfortable life with Longhair Slickster.

Sounds quite straightforward for me. At start this trait does nothing as all dupes sleep in the same bedroom anyway. At the endgame it denies high morale bonuses which isnt fun either. I think idea can be tweaked a bit to be more flexible and funny to play with
