I believe torch branch can be enhanced and become an useful longterm item for Wilson and the others. Increasing to max range of light is the first step, but its longevity should be able by refuel it, with grass, twigs, pine cone (because is a bio oil resource), etc.

Then, a perk when a torch is equipped like speed. I think something like an olimpic torch relay: speed+sanity+illuminating other torches (and refuel them).

Finally, the torch toss but with something else, like using the torch on the ground as a science or alchemy station, because light is knowledge.

2 twigs and 2 grass being an alchemy engine and giving light. No. Why do you always try to make him so overly versatile

Unlocking science 2 on a torch? Like can you actually, for once, try to UNDERSTAND someone's point and not take two words out of context

You just want to fight. Those are just ideas. It also could be sicence tier1 or blueprint station (carto desk), or anything else, do you like something else? Share it. Try to coment and argue more from modesty and not from aggressiveness. :wilson_vforvictory:

Ha ha ha, yes, I aware of that. But I like to share my ideas on Wilson skill tree. Some people take really personal, or as an attack. I understand they will no chance their pov, because that people are talking from the negative. Not from the middle point.

Ok, lets work together on balancing. Maybe you should try to answer whith empaty and kind words.

If you want to listen to my reason for that torch perks, I can do it :)

The last time I've given a little criticism to a Wilson skill tree idea I've got responded with passive aggressiveness, same happened there. I will be real with you, I did not play Wilson that much, but I also never tried to argue on how his skill tree should be, yet even I see how overtuned you and certain someone try to make him. You've spoken so much about how Wilson deserves better and needs to be buffed yet don't bother to balance the ideas and suggestions you're proposing. I do want to listen to your reasoning why torch should somehow unlock science crafts for you, but as you already probably understood I don't think it's a good idea. It just doesn't make sense.

Forgive me if this is unrelated to discussion but, I'm curious: Don't y'all think it would be better if we had a crafting station to do stuff like this?

Like, what does standing there and pressing a button adds to Wilson's gameplay? Is the ability(transmutations) strong? yes, especially the irridescent gem transmutation. But is there any fun to standing and pressing a button?

Don't you think it would be better if he had more skills like his beard storage one? Or like Walters scouting tab? You know stuff that aren't game breaking, but fun?

I'm asking this because It seems you guys reaally don't want klei to touch Wilson's skilltree So I'm curious about your perspective.

Since I thinking around on Wilson Skill Tree the alchemy branch was the one with less ideas to modify de gameplay. Always I get stock in to change the recipes, or the values, but not something new, like on torch, or beard. Even here, in other thread, we imagine an Alchemy Golem as a shadow affinity.

But its true, lets think in another way for wilson to do de Alchemy. Of course, the easier way is by using transmutation circles, using maybe nightmare fuel to craft them, and adding a new gameplay on fighting, defensing, etc.

I like your idea @mkemal23

What do you think on the skill of drawing the transmutation recipe (circle) like a blueprint, and been able to share it, or not, but this as a new game play. Is just an idea.

Beard section has more option and ideas to develop new perks and fun actions. There are a lot of really good ideas from many of Wilson's players.

But alchemy section, mmmm, some transmutations are costly and the frecuency of use are low. For me, the meat transformation is the one I used more. Sometimes the rock... I mean, this branch should change the interaction, the cost of transformations and, of course, new recipes.

Finally, Wilson deserves a Science branch: chemistry, light and medical are my proposals. Creating new substances or reactions into a flask to crafting dry ice, explosives, acids, dry or purify meat. New sources of light, buff the bioluminescense items, maybe buff all the meteorological structures and use them to refuel the weather pain or the morning star, of course the blueprint, etc. And, finally, medical perks, use the razor for medical perks, dissect animals, buff the human transmutation items, buff the healing items.

a bit much for wilson
i think blueprint copying should be universal anyway

Intresting idea, I have one problem with this

Wilson is a simple character who does not have any special mechanics
this is why Wilson have simple skill tree - new crafting recipes + beard and torch buffs

sadly the skill tree is focused to be helpful to new players, but most new players fly towards wendy and webber (from what I heard)
this is why most players just use transmution skills and dump other skill points to other stuff
nobody is putting theire first skill points into torch skills without the throw skill, because only the throw skill looks cool and intresting

try making simple skills that are fun and intresting (without anything complex like the hair-munculus) and not just simple buffs that scale with amount of points you invest in.

Sounds cool the "hair-munculus".

At least, I would love to see a transmutation animation. Maybe, when using a transform, Wilson can draw-invoke a transmutacion circle (1tile size) for the transformation, providing light for 1 or 2 sec during the animation.

Or, since just clickink to transmute item is not fun, draw-invoke the transmutation circle and using the torch to activate the transform, causing cold fire for 1 or 2 sec, during the animation.

The hair oculus may be new, but it’s crafting recipes quite simple

also, it adds a little bit of spice to make things more interesting

What do you think on the skill of drawing the transmutation recipe (circle) like a blueprint, and been able to share it, or not, but this as a new game play. Is just an idea.

I was thinking in new ways to give animation and interaction to transmutations into the alchemy branch. First, the animation could be Wilson drawing or just invoking on the ground a transmutacion circle. Inside, Wilson can place 3 mineral (ore transmute) and "cooking" the transformation. We can use the current recipe, but by this way we can use some other repices (regarding the "equivalence" between minerals). For example, you need 2 flint for 1 rock, but you should fill the 3rd slot, well you can use another flint but is the expensive recipe, so you can use 1 Charcoal or find another cheapest recipe, maybe 1 flint and 2 Charcoal. So, we gona have a lot of recipes or combination to transmutating objects.

I propopuse using the charcoal as the mineral base or "wildcard" to "cooking" the transmutation. For the Gem Transmutation Circle I consider Nightmare Fuel as the wildcard, and Beard Hair for the Icky Transmutation Circle.

Log and twigs can be placed into a new Transmutation Circle about Natural, including recipes for grass, reeds, light bulb, glow berries, etc, and using Petals as a wildcard for cooking the transmutation.

I believe by adding variations on the recipes to transmute items can be more fun than just clicking.

What do you think? @mkemal23

Thanks for reading :)

Perhaps, we can design a equivalence system as reference to transmute recipes:

Charcoal = Rock < Flint = Nitre < Gold = Cut Stone = Marble < Moon Rock < Moon Shard = Salt < Desert Stone < Thulecite Fragment.

I hate transmutations because of how bland and boring they are. There is no fun in clicking and waiting for a stack of flints to be crafted.

It's so sad because klei also knew about this and gave Winona a minigame to get her main ingridients for her endgame lunar machines.

They could have made the Cachebox drops craftable but that would have been boring so they choose to add a fun minigame.

That being said, I think this idea you gave is too similar to cooking and could be difficult to balance since the animation might take too long which is even more time wasted.

But the idea is there and I like it.

Here's another idea: Make it so you can click on a item with other items to insta transmutate them. Like you take stone and click on another stone to insta create a flint or something.

Also I really appreciate your dedication with Wilson's skill tree. I hope one day klei would look on these threads and give us at least a small skill tree rework.

Yes, I know. I was not sure on do it similar as cooking because it will take too much time. But I did not how to explain my mind, haha.

This sound better. I just thougt on diversify the recipes, to have several optiona to get a mineral or a resource.

this is taking away from his base character trope
again i think they want wilson to still be very basic compared to others but i dont think they want him to be an entirely new character

Those skills are related to Wilson and his lore. Yes, maybe some are not "naturals", but not all to convert him into a enterely character. There are points to rework on Wilson skill tree and of course klei are awared of that.

IMO, there is not such thing of "basic character" in DST since the skills tree diversify the pros and cons for the every characters. Yes, i feel Wilson was "basic character" in DS, but after his skill tree that change. Skill give us new way of playability with our fav character.
