Neither of these things are purely up to luck, there are ways to influence it and if you're drowning during Crab King from it then there was clearly an element of player error there. I don't think it adds a crazy amount of depth or anything but it's really just a minor inconvenience when it does happen. Just don't use a cane.

No, seriously, the game just glitches out and you get stuck trying to get back on your boat from the ice sometimes. It's not just from slipping when I try to, either, the game just will not let me get back on the boat, as if it's not detecting that it can. My only option is to telepoof and even that doesn't always work. Also, it's not a minor inconvenience when it means you have to fully restart the fight.

It sounds like you might be having an issue with this setting, I also had that problem at first until I fiddled with it a bit

...since when is that a thing?

Yeah check for this option. Alternatively you can click on the land rather than use WASD and you'll still jump instantly. It was added because boats used to be plagued by a thing where even a slight tap towards the direction of the land would make you immediately jump off your boat, which then continues drifting off into the distance, so now there's a delay by default.

@lowercase skye @Swag Master69 @DegenerateFurry It doesn't change it very much. It's better, but not the solution. I have it alllll to zero since the update and while it saved me from the tecnical bad code of Klei, I still encounter from time to time what Furry described. He's right when you change "lands" or platforms you could drown out of nowhere and IT IS RNG. It is completely out of your control. The ocean is a sh1t-show of tecnical problems.

Btw I can't wait for the incoming drowning rework, that could help on this too. Also @Pet Rock idea's about personal floaters is cool.

EDIT: follow also lowercase skye's suggestion about clicking with your mouse on the ocean because it's true!
