PHG
So, with the recent addition of Seakomb, the usage of Polluted Dirt is slowly climbing once more. The only issue is, aside from the Wetlands biome containing a chunk of free PDirt to start you off, there's no reliable method of producing Polluted Dirt without the usage of Ethanol Distillers, and thus - the Ethanol Loop. Long live the Ethanol Loop! In all seriousness, I believe it's about time we made Polluted Dirt more accessible. This is not a push to nerf Ethanol Loops, but rather make other methods of acquisition capable(in smaller amounts than the Loop, of course) as well. A very simple change that could help with this is tweaking the Water Sieve no longer delete its Filteration Medium mass when converting it to Polluted Dirt, or perhaps even increasing it as it's filtering contaminants out of the liquid! Especially attractive as Relica asteroids have a guaranteed Polluted Water Geyser. I believe this decision was made back when resources were way more scarce, but now it's but a fragment of history that hinders us needlessly. 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165996-acquisition-of-polluted-dirt-specifically-the-sieve/ Share on other sites

axxel
Sorry, I don't understand the general problem. Does it have to do with the seakomb plants - ergo biodiesel production- or the universal usage of polluted dirt? I can't speak for OP, but I always have problems producing enough polluted dirt for a single Pokeshell if I upgrade my latrines to washrooms. There just doesn't seem to be any reliable sources of polluted dirt besides Ethanol Distillers. I found it easy enough to ignore that problem, though, since Pokeshells aren't particularly interesting, but I would really like to see polluted dirt become easier to produce now that it has interesting applications with the Seakomb. 3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165996-acquisition-of-polluted-dirt-specifically-the-sieve/#findComment-1818514 Share on other sites

Ah, at least a crab's diet guarantees a total consumption of the byproducts, no? They are basically living composts or clean up slime. But I agree, for the sake of crab lovers, an earlier method of producing more polluted dirt or having a little tweak (like consuming the dirt in polluted water) is probably better than having to feed 140 pacus. Oceana and Relica have early acess to crabs, just leaving them wild make them look a bit unnecessary filler. Otherwise, the new DLC doesn't need more natural spawned polluted dirt. You need 8000kg of seaweed leafs=8000kg polluted dirt (minus the usuable blastshots in the POI) to shoot the space potato down. 1 wetland usually spawns with about 20 tiles of pol. dirt which is enough fertilizer for the mission if I get it right...
