image.png.3ef078434a90d80987597b1a4a7bff7f.pngThis is where I keep all of my non volatile resources. I think it's a creative way to go about it but it also feels silly. We should get better storage solutions someday, or have higher tier bins costing pricey resources in order to make them more spacial. While this what I'm doing is very neat on it's own, I feel like there could be a more developed solution the game could offer as well.

i think it's been asked for, I don't recall why it has been maintained this long. Without some rational solution. You may find that creating storage containers that then drop it's contents into another tile. Which is something I have never really considered before. A sort of honeycomb with one cell representing one resource. Do you happen to know how many we have? Somehow it could be applied to maybe be more effective or efficient to just have a single container, in one area perhaps, If a pneumatic door will allow having part of a door under it, or maybe in the next tile. But that just increases the overall footprint. Initially I thought of something like a flat floor with tiny pits, one for each mat. Which is obviously too long. Somehow stacking them in order of use/importance would help. But the point being that you maybe able to get away with either multi-use containers for scarce mats. For something as common as sandstone, you'd essentially have the one container. Which then empties itself into a pit combining all the raw mats into one big ball. Make it so the dupes can get to those and that condenses greatly the footprint of thr capacity. I really want to investigate this practicality. You could even temp control the collection spot, by putting ice or hot water in the tile 'tub'. It could even keep solids from off-gassing manually. W/O equipment I usually submerge one container for sweeping slime., or the chlorine one.

But, it does seem simple enough to re-balance the capacity. Since for one a multitude of mats have been added to the game and if not mistaken, this is one of the games first objects and hasn't really changed since then. Not sure if it is for nostalgia or some premise. Not sure what will shake them in this matter. For whatever reason they feel like it's been plenty, since the beginning. Despite having added at least about 20 more materials to the game. But, 'those need to stay unchanged like carved granite!'. And no further contemplation on the matter will be entertained. The containers will never need to hold more than 20k/kg. Except then they had like 11 materials in the game. :| go figure.
