SirToastyToes
I don't think a new item allowing other characters to do something invalidates one character being able to do it. Not only is this item extremely lategame but Wigfrid also gets to leverage her exclusivity to do this without the new crown the entire time she has the un-upgraded version available. I see it like how Wickerbottom can summon rain and Wanda can teleport, but neither is somehow invalidated by the existence of the Telelocator Focus/Staff that gives those utilities to other characters. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165869-the-celestial-jewel-puts-wigfrid-in-an-awkward-position/page/2/#findComment-1817912 Share on other sites

It's not the same thing as Telelocator Focus/Staff because it costs more than the character perk. If Celestial Jewel cost one purple gem per battle rather than being no cost when used by anyone other than Wigfrid, people's opinions would change. I understand that it's meant to be endgame among endgame, but even though Sanity is a resource system, this item essentially nullifies it completely, which feels like it could lead to potential exploits and might reduce the freedom of the game. Wouldn’t something like the following be fine instead? - Always in Enlightened state. - Not targeted by Gestalts. - Always glowing. - Sanity itself increases and decreases as usual, and Gestalt pursuits will only occur when sanity is above 85% at the cost of 1 sanity per hit. - If this nerf makes the item too less valuable, buff the attack performance of Gestalt. I think a simpler fix is to make it so that the gestalt don't cost sanity on use with the new crown and always attack regardless of sanity value but sanity isn't locked to 100%. In this version we'd no longer have the enlightened state so we could still go insane and such but we keep the gestalt and light at all times. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165869-the-celestial-jewel-puts-wigfrid-in-an-awkward-position/page/2/#findComment-1817923 Share on other sites

Wdym by "reduces freedom of the game" also it's supposed to be an end game item, you win the game and now you're God, the celestial crown already basically nullifies the darkness effect and bone helm nullifies sanity 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165869-the-celestial-jewel-puts-wigfrid-in-an-awkward-position/page/2/#findComment-1817924 Share on other sites

In that case, it seems that a new synergy with another character will be born, but the synergy with Wigfrid will be lost. Which is better depends on the opinion, but personally I would like to prioritize the existing synergy with Wigfrid. 1 hour ago, Draggofroot said: Wdym by "reduces freedom of the game" also it's supposed to be an end game item, you win the game and now you're God, the celestial crown already basically nullifies the darkness effect and bone helm nullifies sanity Fixing 100% sanity all the time while equip this is tantamount to disabling sanity for that time which is a major element of the game. This means that any in-game sanity gain/loss synergies are lost as this Wigfrid case. I enjoy managing sanity in this game. I want to enjoy it in the endgame. I'm also looking forward to the new sanity-related contents that will be added in the future. I understand people who expect to be freed from the hassle of sanity management by using this item. That's why I accepted the complete immunity to Shadow Creatures and Gestalts. However, I still think that there should be room to enjoy sanity management. And, yes, my favorite phrase "Just don't use it" applies in this case. However, I hope you understand that I don't just want to nerf this item, but I'm proposing it to increase the fun of using this item. HopelessBot
So by that logic we should also remove glass axes and that shadow axe i can't remember its name, cuz they sideline Woodie's tree chopping ability. correct? Sofy Happy
Let’s clarify the purpose of this post: It’s not about nerfing the existing Jewel Enlightened Crown, but rather about adding mechanics to ensure that its original beneficiaries still gain value—specifically, retaining the ability to exchange Sanity for rewards. This includes not just Wigfrid, but also: WX-78 (with its high Sanity cap) Wormwood (via plant healing/moon shroom consumption) Other characters who leverage Sanity mechanics in unique ways. Lunar spirits gain bonus damage scaling with the wearer’s actual sanity. These suggestions sound pretty fun, and would objectively be buffing the item for every character. Not sure why people seem to be treating it like your suggesting a nerf? Of course characters with good sanity control would benefit the most from this hypothetical change, but even for those without, it's an extra bit of damage at the start of a fight before actual sanity runs out, and then it just goes back to how it currently is. Still, I'm not sure how needed a change like this is admittedly, and the item may not be fully implemented regardless. Nevertheless it'd be very welcome in my book! 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165869-the-celestial-jewel-puts-wigfrid-in-an-awkward-position/page/2/#findComment-1818152 Share on other sites
Edible Coal
i dont think the jewel makes ur character full sanity, you only get the effect while wearing it, just like the bone helm, any item that cause you to lose sanity still does, and you will see the effect once you take off your crown Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165869-the-celestial-jewel-puts-wigfrid-in-an-awkward-position/page/2/#findComment-1818154 Share on other sites
SilverSpoon
I'm bumping this before the update. I don't mind if the current abilities of the Celestial Jewel Crown are kept for those who like it as it is. But I would be happy if they made it possible to enjoy some synergy with sanity management and characters who are strong in sanity, like "Sanity won't be fixed at 100%, but the current Gestalt attack will still occur regardless of sanity, and if sanity is above XX%, a powerful Scion-themed attack will trigger at the cost of X sanity." If Soothing Tea gets nerfed any further, it will disappear into oblivion.
