The "Celestial Jewel" (currently spawnable via console commands but with no legitimate in-game acquisition method) allows players to upgrade an Enlightened Crown by inserting five jewels, turning it into a "Jeweled Enlightened Crown."

This crown behaves inversely to the Bone Helm—it locks sanity at 100% and forces the wearer into a permanent enlightened state (possibly a bug: the effect persists even after unequipping the crown unless the player has worn a regular Enlightened Crown to cancel it). It retains the original crown’s benefits, and with sanity perpetually above 85%, every attack summons a lunar spirit (each still consumes 1 actual sanity, deducted upon leaving the enlightened state).

While this is a strong addition for most characters, it unintentionally sidelines Wigfrid. Previously, she was the only character who could reliably summon lunar spirits without active sanity management, thanks to her Inspiration mechanic and exclusive Battle Spear (which doesn’t require alignment gear). This let her compete with top-tier combat roles like Wolfgang. Now, the Jeweled Enlightened Crown grants this capability to everyone, making Wigfrid’s niche far less unique.

  Suggestions to Restore Balance:
Keep the crown’s effects but reward players for maintaining high actual sanity (post-enlightenment sanity):

  1. If actual sanity is above 85%, attacks summon +1 additional lunar spirit (2 total).

  2. Lunar spirits gain bonus damage scaling with the wearer’s actual sanity.

Idk, I understand your point but this is presumably dropped from what seems to be the final lunar boss installment. I think making everyone else use the crown well while Wigfrid gets to use it equally well before even progressing the late game content with far less effort is fair.

I reckon these jewels should change the damage of the lunar spirites into planar, so that the crown suits the planar emvironment better

If you're playing a long-term world, the time spent progressing through the main storyline only takes about one or two hundred days at most—less than one-tenth of your total playtime. The transition from an Enlightened Crown to a Jeweled Enlightened Crown is even shorter, possibly just around 30–40 days (and you can shorten it further by using Mimic Worms to replicate Lunar Spirit Traps, reducing the required Enlightenment Fragments). This barely accounts for 5% of a long-term playthrough.

Don't label me so quickly, folks — I'm an 8,000-hour all-character veteran, not just some Wigfrid one-trick.Precisely because I'm an all-character player, I place great importance on balance—and have a deeper understanding of it.

Well, most people don't play long-term worlds, so like... Yeah, sure, I get what you're talking about, but you're trying to address a perceived problem that only affects a super small minority of the playerbase.

I thought people value the opinions of the minorities?

Isn't the design of Spark Ark's limited acquisition (only three per year via Bearger time-gating) and materials like Brightshade Ink/Thulecite that require waiting for their spawn cycles all meant to encourage longer-term playthroughs? The From Beyond designers clearly want to turn what was once a minority of long-term players into the majority.

wigfrid gets the advantage of not needing much upkeep for the crown + forgoing the whole tedious quest. and for me she has great combat abilities like being tough to kill, shield and spear being quite useful, and CC being the only challenge she really has til she gets her max potential is already great

wolfgang this and that, he doesnt have aoe, electric, protection and convenient tool for day to day meat farming (on birds). wigfrids superior to wolfgang imo

I don't really see a problem with it, considering how much time and effort it takes to even get this item, I think every character without exception should be able to utilize it to the fullest

The one who really is in a awkward position is Willow due to Bernie's sanity requirements, making crown completely useless against everything not shadow/lunar aligned

Before jumping to conclusions, did you actually test this and think it through? The reality is quite the opposite—Bernie got a significant buff. Here's how it works: First equip the Jeweled Enlightened Crown, then put on the Bone Helm. This locks your sanity at 0 while keeping you in the enlightened state (just like using the Bone Helm on the Lunar Island), giving you a Bernie with no Shadow Creature interruptions.

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this a bug, I don't think you're supposed to be enlightened after the crown is removed?

I don't think that developers planned for enlightened crown to be a perfect item for Wigfrid it probably just happened to be so.

At most what should be done is a buff to Wigfrid but we shouldn't be forced to upkeep sanity for more damage when this is an endgame item.

Wigfrid has been enjoying enlightened crown since its release and has been able to get much more out of it. I have always looked at enlightened crown as very unreliable light source because no one usually wants to lose light source in a middle of a fight even while getting some damage unless they are ready to spam sanity food.

Does it ever occur to you that by giving Wigfrid the the jeweled crown, you are freeing up a 1 or 2 battlesong slots that is meant for clear minded cadenza and bel canto of courage that are needed for the sanity upkeep of the regular crown? The enlightened lock is a buff to Wigfrid too.

You can finally use heartrending, weaponized warble, and faction songs together in battle.

1. The jewel crown is still incomplete and might be changed in the future, we should not argue on stuff that is hidden in commands/files.
2. The jewel crown is very balanced in my opinion, having you progress so far into the story for the opposite effect of the bone helm.
3. If the crown getting upgrade will the bone armor and helm get upgrade too?

bel canto is overshadowed by the other sanity song so much that there isnt ever a benefit to using both at once (fuelweaver being the closest thing to an exception). And even if you did get to save 2 song slots, what else are you using them on?

Heartrending ballad is generally seen as the best song so its likely that was the one you would have been using anyways.

Weaponized warble can have some sort of impact, but when every post rift weapon is repairable it makes this song a small qol feature at best.

Fireproof falsetto does not do anything is a vast majority of situations.

The affinity songs have a fairly low impact overall, and there are some enemies that they dont even work on.

While i disagree with the idea of wigfrid being nerfed here, its also just as much of a stretch to say she is getting buffed by the addition of the new crown (which isnt even complete btw).

I think it was always unfair that Wigfrid was the only character who got so much more mileage out of the lenghty and tedious to obtain enlightened. Every character puts in the same massive effort, but for the rest of the cast it is not nearly as worth it, to the point the best reward is keeping moonstorms on for perma-light.

If Wigfrid's lategame balance hinges this badly on the crown being the cheapest on her, then the problem is Wigfrid's kit, not the way they are making the crown more than a fancy miner hat/tam combo for other characters.

Partly because of the reasons OP mentioned, I also don’t really like the current mechanic where Sanity is locked at 100%.
I understand that it's meant to be endgame among endgame, but even though Sanity is a resource system, this item essentially nullifies it completely, which feels like it could lead to potential exploits and might reduce the freedom of the game.

Wouldn’t something like the following be fine instead?
- Always in Enlightened state.
- Not targeted by Gestalts.
- Always glowing.
- Sanity itself increases and decreases as usual, and Gestalt pursuits will only occur when sanity is above 85% at the cost of 1 sanity per hit.
- If this nerf makes the item too less valuable, buff the attack performance of Gestalt.
