mr. brj
In the last beta, Dragonfly resetting her home location upon sleeping/freezing was removed to prevent accidental despawns during the fight. However, this also makes it so that the Dragonfly will be more unforgiving towards players that choose to fight her at the edge of her arena. To offset this, I want to suggest increasing Dragonfly's despawn radius by a small amount, something like 2 or 3 tiles. This would still make the despawn radius smaller than the old "accidentally increased" despawn range (i.e. using a panflute right at the edge of the arena and changing Dragonfly's home location by a couple tiles), but it would also help old strategies such as tentacle traps to still be used as reliably as before without investing a lot more resources in comparison. 6 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165841-can-we-increase-dragonflys-despawn-radius/ Share on other sites
Well-met
but why are you fighting at the edge of the arena? 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165841-can-we-increase-dragonflys-despawn-radius/#findComment-1817235 Share on other sites

An obvious example would be strats that involve walling off the lavae, but admittedly this is unlikely to affect a player that has experience with the fight. But as Wickerbottom, to be as close as possible to the edge of the land. This makes sure that you are not wasting your casts from On Tentacles. And as any character, being able to use your surroundings to their fullest potential (funny world generation, nearby aggressive mobs, setups that utilize boats, etc.) provides more options to approach the fight which makes it more fun in return, and increasing the radius means increasing the potential to use your surroundings as well. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165841-can-we-increase-dragonflys-despawn-radius/#findComment-1817240 Share on other sites

Bumber64
I wonder why someone fighting larvae that spawn at the edge of the arena would be fighting at the edge of the arena? 🤔 Edited May 24, 2025 by Bumber64 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165841-can-we-increase-dragonflys-despawn-radius/#findComment-1817249 Share on other sites
Lucas Rego
As long as you are aware of that and you move from right to left and not outside the arena you should be fine, i don't want to be mean but maybe this issue is a lack of experience in the exploit. Now increasing the range of a boss just cause of a exploit + making it worse for everybody else (people that are just fleeing from her, people that makes the base there) isn't advisable 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165841-can-we-increase-dragonflys-despawn-radius/#findComment-1817303 Share on other sites

The change I'm suggesting is basically making it so that Dragonfly behaves similarly to the way she used to behave before the changes to her home location. This only affects situations where Dragonfly already engaged in combat, and considering that most players using panflutes already unknowingly shifted her despawn location by more than 2 or 3 tiles prior to the changes, I don't understand how this negatively affects anyone. On the contrary, I'm saying that increasing the despawn range should make different approaches that don't rely on exploits practically the same as they were before the changes.
