Previously, one could use the automation port on a power control station to automate tuneups. This is important to reduce unnecessary dupe labor. Now we have to use doors+automation to lock dupes out of the room, which is not ideal because it usually requires a bunch of automation to stop dupes from getting trapped.

Potential solutions (in order of preference):

1. Restore previous functionality

2. Introduce a duplicant room sensor that functions like a critter sensor to simplify door automation

3.  Change engie’s tuneup so that the timer only decreases if the generator is running

The overhaul that was done also affected farm stations, you can imagine going through each and every plant to disable/enable tinkering. I've been against this part of the update since it ditched the ability to automate tune-ups and spread like some unwanted disease onto farms.

I wonder if it’s unintentional? If I remember correctly there weren’t any documented changes regarding farming stations.

Would be great to get a fix here. Taking features away from players is bad. I appreciate the attempt to address this by adding a button to enable/disable tinkering, but as you say it’s effectively meaningless.

Furthermore, the power control station has the word “control” in its name but it doesn’t actually do that… it’s just a glorified fabricator.

Klei please help.
