wons
I was today thinking of playing dst, maybe for a longer while, idk. I was a pretty active player in somewhere around 2021. Even though i wasn't playing all these years i saw some stuff being added, like skill trees, lunar apocalypse(?), etc. I really liked playing as Wurt, for context, i think around WX-78 rework she got some changes but i never gave them a proper look. Is the game much different now? Should i be aware of some of these new things? ChintzyGnat
Wurt has a skill tree now and there is content post celestial champion and fuelweaver. I think a majority of updates are mostly qol and the sea is better than it was (moonquays easier to find, new special trees with the ocean treasure) biggest things is post main boss content and then I suposse the crab king rework. Wumpair
Multiple QoL updates that over all I think are positives, you might not notice it at first but if you are a veteran then you might. If you like building, for instance, you can place structures much closer now, making more compact kitchens etc. If you like fighting, there is plenty of new bosses and mini-bosses added, most of the content added has been focused on endgame though so a lot of people never really see it; but you still can find some surprises, like a new benevalant ruler of the rabbits... The recent updates also added some improvements to beffalo tamming, if you like that aspect ^_^ Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165415-old-player-trying-to-return-any-advicewarnings/#findComment-1813279 Share on other sites
Wawchik
The game is just better and has more content now Also, just skip days to unlock every skill, it's not worth waiting because most of them are filler anyway Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165415-old-player-trying-to-return-any-advicewarnings/#findComment-1813282 Share on other sites

_mylilsunshine_
when i first returned, the overall endgame content was very overwhelming for me, i had to read the wiki and watch guides on how to approach it. now that i look back, i think you should use the scrapbook (new)/point of interest (new)/inspect features of the game to know what an item do and what can you do with it. it's more fun to figure things out on your own, take it step by step instead of bum rushing the wiki like i did returning players might as well be a fresh player, and you can't really get that fresh experience the second time so really take it slow and absorb the game Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/165415-old-player-trying-to-return-any-advicewarnings/#findComment-1813295 Share on other sites
lowercase skye
You stopped right before some of the juiciest updates ever! I'll try not to spoil too much unprompted, but to get to more recent content you'll want to either fight the Ancient Fuelweaver, or explore three key points of the map (the Crabby Hermit's island, the Lunar Island, and the underground Mutated Grotto) and solve their puzzles. A lot of changes to the world and new threats/rewards are locked behind doing the Lunar and Shadow based questlines as a check to make sure you've got long term survival taken care of and are able to handle bosses, so you'll need to fight either the Fuelweaver or the surface's lunar equivalent boss in order to get things started. Feel free to poke for more info if you'd rather just know what to expect exactly! Also, definitely pick a character to play that has a skill tree, you can see who has one by checking them in the character select. You're in luck that Wurt is one of the characters to have already received one! For newer players they'll definitely get the full year as a character, but for people who have already played a ton it's just a little tedious to wait a year for the full access. I get why they couldn't just hand out all 15 points, wouldn't help new players. And I get they didn't really have a way to check if people have played as each character for however long the full unlock time takes. So it was easiest to just have everyone unlock it. I have noticed a pattern of myself just... Never remembering stuff until I discover it myself. Quotes, crockpot dishes, etc. It applies to just about any game I play. I only really remember safe codes in another game not when I looked them up, but when I find a natural solution in the environment. I paid no attention to Wolfgang's examination quotes on the wiki until I played him. Now "I am quite lichen this!" Is stuck in my head.
