Void Masques might be the single worst thing to ever be added to this game

Recommended Posts

I just had a group of masqued bunnies spawn, kill my penned in bishop, and when I attacked the bunnymen to try and protect that bishop, the rabbit king spawned. Why the hell does the rabbit king spawned for possessed bunnymen?

First there was the rock lobsters reproducing bug, then the fact that they didnt despawn and would slowly clog up your world, and there's still this stupid rabbit king who might as well be a budget bee queen if her loot was god awful and useless.

I mean, I'd argue the Rabbit King is the problem. Sometimes you are just minding your own business, lunch meat packed in your backpack, and some random white rabbit turns into a teleporting and minion re-summoning miniboss. Your reward for killing it doesn't even get hostile Bunnymen to back off.

I believe I've reported the rabbit king spawning as a bug before, guess it should be reported again. The bunnies are already dead, they should not count towards the rabbit king's anger.

I like the masques, it's so unfortunate they have been riddled with so many annoying bugs.

May I ask how big the pen was? As far as I know the masques don't attack fences so the bishop should have been safe. Unless they spawned inside the pen, in which case my condolences.

Best advice I can give is CC the summons with fire or freezing, and focus on the annoying rabbit. He is manageable. Just very annoying.

Although If someone asks me whether they should buy DS or DST, I would honestly just recommend them the singleplayer game because of this guy in particular.

(Ok, yeah. That's just me being petty.)

Rifts are a late-game trade off that promise to give new rewards in exchange for adding new threats to the world. In the case of the caves, a place meant to be uninhabitable, this comes in the form of hostile mobs constantly seeking out anything they can kill while rifts are open. It sounds like you just got an unfortunate emergent threat of hostile bunnymen spawning nearby a penned mob + the Rabbit King keeping track of killed bunnymen. Truthfully, this is an incredibly niche interaction where all the pieces in play make sense, and I think it's an overreaction to brand Void Masques as "the single worst thing to ever be added to the game" over something so incredibly niche that I've never heard anyone mention it happening once until now.

The bunny king randomly spawning is incredibly common in caves, especially with the amount of bunnys that drop from EQs.

Being an experienced player doesn't matter. For example, yesterday my friend as walter was just going through the caves post rift and was randomly kicked by an unseen king that spawned which more or less instantly made him insane.

I've nearly died other times simply having meat on me and entering a cave entrance as old wanda without armor on.

He's just a punishing noob trap. You get punished for having meat and being in the caves, and I have a lot of world gens with bunny villages right next to cave entrances where you don't really have time to react.

I genuinely think the big issue here is no way to disable either masques (or ickers, for that matter) and the rabbit king in world options. I personally don’t like them very much, but I would tolerate them a lot more if I could simply disable the Unfun Things I don’t personally enjoy and enjoy the Fun Things that I do. It’s a bit of a shame for me since I really like a lot of the shadow rift’s content, but masques are so bothering to me that I personally plugged up every spawn point for the rift so I avoid dealing with them altogether.
