Wickerbottom skill tree ideas

Recommended Posts

I haven’t seen a whole lot of talk for Wickerbottom’s future skill tree, so I thought I’d throw some ideas out there. I’d love to hear more ideas, as I think she has a much wider range of potential skills considering hoe she incorporates other mobs into her playstyle.

General skills:

- Increased number of uses for books.

- Increased speed for restoring books in a bookshelf.

-Increased storage per shelf.

New book ideas:

Fascinating phenology: Can be used on an object that changes over time (ex: moose goose nests, beefalo mating, mushtrees, etc) to switch its status. Requires a pomegranate to craft.

Fluctuating phenology: Allows players to change seasons by moving forward multiple days in the seasonal cycle. Requires a copy of the previous book and a feather pen to craft.

Legend of sleepy hollow: Increases domestication levels for beefalo, earning them a riding temperament. Requires a pumpkin lantern to craft.

Memoirs of Lenore: Revives one player at a time but has multiple uses. Requires a tell-tale heart and black feathers.

Preparing Preservatives: Increases the freshness of perishables. Requires an empty bottle and ice to craft.

Cat Lady:

Cat scratch: Befriended Catcoons deal more damage against enemies and stay loyal for longer.

Librarian’s assistant: Befriended Catcoons can be sent out to collect trinkets

Cat tree: Construct a new home for befriended catcoons to congregate at. Opens up hollow logs to spawn a new catcoon without killing the previous owner.

Lunar Alignment:

Wide Awake: Complete immunity from grogginess induced by gestalts and grazers.

In Tune with the Moon (book): Provides all lunar aligned mobs/players (including self) in the area with bonus planar damage and defense (extra against shadow aligned players/mobs). Requires pure brilliance and brightshade husk (instead of papyrus) to craft.

Celestial Summoning (book): Drops enlightened snares in the area around the player. Requires previous book and feather pen to craft.

Shadow Alignment

Woven spines: Use nightmare fuel to repair books

1001 Nightmares (book): Provides all shadow aligned mobs/players (including self) in the area with bonus planar damage and defense (extra against lunar aligned players/mobs). Requires pure horror and dark tatters (instead of papyrus) to craft.

On Ancient Rituals (book): Traps hostile mobs in Fuelweaver’s bone cages. Requires previous book and feather pen to craft.

I think cheaper+faster papyrus crafting should be a minimum guaranteed skill. Given woodie's planks and Walter's rope.

It would be weird for her not to have it. It should be an isolated skill that doesn't lead anywhere. I don't want a repeat of dead weight crafting skills that are *ahem* on other skill trees.

The only things I'm wanting & expecting from her skill tree is that + books slowly repairing in her inventory + some sort of container + books that are useful day to day instead of just for massing resources.

Cool ideas.

I want more and actually useful combat books.

Like shadow affinity "on tentacles" upgrade, which spawn a few shadow tentacles around you

Lunar affinity book, that turns sanity into enlightenment for some time, so you don't have to deal with nightmares all the time

Maybe the could have cooldown instead of durability, because durability just doesn't work for Wicker and forces you to depend on bookshelf
