Frosty_Mentos
I am kinda interested if Klei doesn't get enough funding through the hype of the game or not and also am curious on how would people feel if there would be survival scenarios like in ONI they released DLC's for big world modifications and survival scenarions as paid DLC's? What I think is that it would bring in more hype towards the uncompromising part of the game, maybe introducing harder challenges or different world scenarios with the same general content that the standard Constant has like progression, but survival like winter seasons could become longer and colder and need better fuel sources to survive, or desert worlds where plant material resources are rare and ranching would be involved in producing more. We could have additional content DLCs for caves like magma or sunken caves where we would need to boat through ravines or even vast seas to get to sunken loot and what not. Maybe an ocean themed world where land is basically nonexistent so we have to get dirt, fertilizers and plant material in order to erect dock bases, enabling dock turfing or even conducting raids on resourceful areas. I don't know how the devs feel about the game anymore, assuming what I heard it's correct that there's been big swaps in teams and all of who develops DST now I do wanna see it thrive and do well and keep interest of players so they would do more bolder content choices, and I do wanna see more quality in the game as I've enjoyed seeing developers actually responding to players and their feedback which I find it positive way to interact. I've been here for so many years and I would feel bad to see things slow down and the franchise not to evolve anymore. I'd be interested to see spin up games of the survivor cast to exist more than just general survival/sandbox. I'd love to see Gorge with more mechanics and even if it could exist outside of DST as it's own game. And I'm suggesting and giving out my feels here cause of that last Klei post of 'future of DST' cuz that just sounds hella sus and worrying and I don't like it Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164862-modified-world-gen-settings-world-content-as-dlcs-also-my-feels-of-the-development-of-the-game-so-far/ Share on other sites
Gashzer
Problem with DST is that is has a mobile game financial design. With DST going on sale often, means low cost to get into the game. People play and join communities, klei makes money off people buying skin packs that could cost the price of a fully fledged DLC. Skins packs cost very little time and manpower for the amount of revenue it generates compared to creating DLCs like shipwrecked and hamlet. Which sucks for us... Klei make a DLC size expansion to DST with a whole new map and weather threats. I guarantee you people would pay 30quid for it. I know I would. Peer pressure is a wonderful and dangerous tool, entire communities would obviously buy it to keep playing with each other. You shouldnt worry about how splitting the playerbase between regular and dlc worlds is going to affect skin packs sales because the insane hype would generate renewed interest from old and new players, increasing the total amount of people able to buy skins even if the skin is locked behind DLC content. There is a lot of unquantifiable benefits, so don't number punch and be like nah. The increase in exposure and renewed hype that you can't properly and accurately quantify does matter.
