W0l0l0
Boats suck in my opinion. You invest so much and get such a horrible experience in return. The lack of space on them hurts in so many ways. Kiting is obnoxious with all the structures and the space, controlling it is awful when trying to select anything due to how compact it all has to be, and it feels like the game itself is fighting against me, when it's just not really designed for such environments. I can't control the characters nearly as easily on a boat. Then when you add in the inventory system it gets worse. It's probably a skill issue magnifying it, but even in ideal circumstances it's awful trying to properly prepare when you have no space for chests, completely pointless shell bells taking up more screen space, rewards and item requirements (many of which are extremely specific) from all over the game that are completely dead weight most of the time. Monkeys, trinkets and beefalo play more havoc with the items, and everything is just a constant mess. I might be managing okay, but I feel constantly uncomfortable at the mess that I can't organise. Overall the experience can be lovely, I don't mind the specific challenges, but the lack of space and overall clumsiness of it makes so many aspects of sailing feel horrendous. I prefer land. Guille6785
another reason is RNG, rushing pearl's quests first autumn even after the addition of the chair task still requires you to do the rain task (first autumn rain occurs between the night of day 4 and day 8) or both fishing tasks (the fallounder one being complete torture to do), and either way you still have to do at least one fishing task which is incredibly boring personally I think they should make the lureplant spawn on the island at the start of the game instead of spring, not just to add another easy task that doesn't feel like torture, but to add a way to obtain a lureplant in the first autumn/winter for all characters Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164583-why-is-ruins-rushing-so-fun-and-doing-pearl-tasks-so-boring/page/3/#findComment-1803997 Share on other sites

My ideas awhile back: 1. Give her a bee queen crown. Pretty big gift. I think it would look good on her. 2. Scaled furnace on her island. 3. A toadstool lamp, either one, lit up. 3 could also make Pearl stay out during dusk. asdsaax
What do you mean helping abandoned granny is "dreadful"? What do you mean seeing her happy is not "rewarding"? I'm disappointed in y'all SMH Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164583-why-is-ruins-rushing-so-fun-and-doing-pearl-tasks-so-boring/page/3/#findComment-1804064 Share on other sites

And if you always forget what you need like me, you probably watch at your days counter and feel disappointed on how much time passed and you did almost nothing - no base, no armour. If Pearl's island could be a suitable place to base on, making her tasks would feel better. Ruins feels like something you can make fast, and the boss is easy, and you can deal with him without prep - just with a labyrinth loot. So it sounds dangerous but actually chill, and many people will name you a cool brave person since you've cleared the ruins and came back with great loot. Nobody will call you brave for granny's quest. Pearl task if you dont use external tools (which I prefer when I am gaming) is basically a memory game and I am mediocre at memory games. They're not as fun as just blasting through the ruins content, which you can take one at a time. The only memory game for ruins rushing is to remember to craft two golden tools for pick/axe for werepig. 15 hours ago, W0l0l0 said: Boats suck in my opinion. I still believe the current "boats" should mostly be reserved for static but movable boat bases, and shipwrecked stile fast boats should be implemented (let's say locked behind pearl) Imagine shell boats with a limited range that must be parked at big boats for repairs and maintenance. RetRunt
The Pearl tasks are the most annoying and boring aspects of the entire game. I never personally bother with them, unless it's helping other players. Klei needs to add another boss in Caves that gives you a corrupted pearl after death, so you can skip all of the Pearl nonsense.
