Grass Geckos Should Drop Tufts

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this has been suggested to death, but I would like to add my two cents on the topic. It feels like grass geckos are very prone to dying. It feels punishing to have worlds where you have grass geckos instead of tufts. This is especially because grass geckos will consistently spawn around things that will kill them (of which there are many), like tall birds. Grass tufts are also the one basic resource that cannot be crafted with wormwood. Realistically you won't be playing for long enough for your grass to become extinct unless you're very irresponsible, but it is still a very saddening thing to consider. Grass geckos are also very difficult to keep safe with fences, because they move at hypersonic speeds such that they consistently clip outside of 1 unit thick walls and fences (at least in my experience). It feels pretty hopeless having all of your grass tufts you've planted slowly become geckos that will inevitably kill themselves. I am very thankful that the shadow reaper can seemingly never cause grass geckos to spawn (as long as you remember to NEVER accidentally manually pick that single grass tuft that you missed). Really I am hoping for a means with which to lose less or manufacture more grass, whether that be through a wormwood craft, grass geckos dropping tufts, or being able to breed geckos, the specific mechanic is not so important. A long time ago, I pitched the idea of a recolored brown and yellow depth worm that drops grass tufts instead of glow berries. I still believe this to be a reasonable mob.

I forgot to remove the glow berry. Pretend that it is not there.
