With thulecite armor you get only 10% of damage, extract what garlic powder protects you. How much healing you need when 2 pierogies heals you for almost 80hp which is the ammount of damage you get by getting hit for 800 damage

This idea only really effects warly’s early game, in the late game, it wouldn’t matter nearly as much when you have access to all kinds of healing items, and all kinds of food, so it wouldn’t matter as much when you get thulecite armor

while pierogis do heal a lot, early game you won’t have access to a bird cage unless you get decently lucky, so I still don’t realize how it ruins the character

Even if that was true is enough reason to dont ruin his downside 

How many days do you need to build a birdcage? I thought you were complaining about needing 3 dishes (which isnt true) but suddenly in late doesn't matter but does in early? Wth

I'm not complaining necessarily, however that doesn't change the fact that his early game will always be one of the harder ones, and as for the 3 dishes, 3 of the same dish having the same health value with no penalty (the other penalties still being present) lets him having more healing options without breaking his kit, and yes, this matters more in early game then late game, because late game has more options. Most foods that are standard for healing restore 20, 3 in total, 60, pierogis are harder to get as a clear fact until you get a bird cage, meaning it will be much more impactful in early game for all the smaller healing foods, rather than in late game where you have options for variety

Since a recent update, depth worm glow berries now glow stronger than regular glow berries. So even a first-time player will realize something is different about them.

There's a nice comment on that video, suggesting a low-damage carving knife that guarantees the random drops when you deal 100% of the damage with the carving knife. 

Two random ideas:

  • I'd love it if Warly could bond with and ride a volt goat; that would be super cute. Perhaps it would be a bit OP if it duplicates herds like it does for beefalos, but definitely he needs a skill that makes relocating volt goats to the base easier for new players.
  • A portable birdcage would fit thematically, though it is perhaps a bit too weak. I envision Warly bringing his pet bird everywhere to always have access to fresh eggs, and it would be nice to encourage a completely nomadic lifestyle. Maybe it could be part of a small Nomad branch with other perks related to such a lifestyle.

So? Why shoud he being changed because of that? If you dont like this you can play the other 90% of characters with strong early game

You have plenty of early game healing options without the need of a base. You have trail mix, surf n turf, spicy chilli, california rolls, stuffed eggs, fruit medley, bunny stew, fish sticks, butter muffin etc. Also you can eat 3 healing dishes in a row without much penalty...his downside is already pretty weak to make such drama out of it

And healing salves exists

Warly isnt for unexperienced players.  There are too many characters with strong early game which are also beginner friendly. No need to ruin one of the few characters that rewards having experience 

Some Dst characters are losing their downside when they had pretty low impact but here we are! Wanting to remove another downside, one of the best,  because you dont want to deal with the downside in early. No, that would be a huge mistake from klei. If anything, his downside should be more impactful
