an admitedly very silly idea for walter rounds

Recommended Posts

so i almost got turned into dogfood a few days ago when i decided to muck about with tallbirds without paying attention to the time. about 5 werepigs all took turns running me around and i couldnt really get a bead on any of them. i was wondering how illogical would something like a "snack" round be? a kind of bait that would deagro multiple hostile mobs that consume food items by forcing them to refocus on something you hit with the round for a second or two(length of getting to and doing the eat animation) while you and woby put some distance between you?

i know right now if you turn on winters feast or hallows eve you get lots of small food items and it wouldnt be a bad time if a stack of fruitcake or "raisons" could be converted to something that could get multiple mobs off of you in a pinch especially since it is kind of difficult to force-drop things when you are riding woby

could someone who is actually good at playing walter give me a sign that i am going in the right direction or possibly am just describing something that already exists?

This is more or less what the poop pellets do however it isn't an aoe(though I wish they'd add it to the thulecite frame aoe enhancements) and depending on how hostile and close the mob is they could immediately reaggro but it varies from mob to mob. The best example I could give is say a werepig is chasing you and you shoot it with a poop pellet it'll likely aggro on something else near you if there is something or just ignore you if your far away enough after it's hit but if your too close the aggro will immediately come back.

Again though there are exceptions to the rules even for hostiles for example if you shoot a rook with a poop pellet it'll stop mid attack and go back to it's starting position completely ignoring you unless you upset it or follow it all the way back. A bishop will also cancel it's attack when hit by poop pellets but it'll regain aggro fairly quickly if you don't leave immediately. As for nightmares spawned from nightmare lights it's more gimmicky ideally you want to hit the nightmare with poop pellets with a bit of a gap between you however if they teleport near you when their hit they'll immediately reaggro but if they don't they'll leave you alone.  There's more variables like this but I can't remember them all off the top of my head. In the case of disabling a horde however it's probably best left to freeze rounds with the aoe augment.

yeah, you have to hit the mob instead of simply hitting /something/ which was not quite what i had imagined(it was more like if it hit -something- they'd go that direction) and i didnt even think it worked on werepigs. they always just reaggro right away

The idea of a distraction round sounds neat, but I don't think it would be very applicable. Not to mention, the aggro system can be a little gimmicky especially on certain enemies that you would theoretically want a distraction round for. As mentioned above I think poop pellets were designed with that sort of idea in mind, but those have their own fair share of issues

yess, i've thought about this a LOT, and my favourite/silliest idea is to enable meatballs in the slingshot, where 1 recipe of meatballs out of a crockpot = 3 rounds when moved to the slingshot storage

i'm into it X''D

The poop pellets IMO have the same problem as his slingshot did pre-tree: if it was actually good, it’d be OP (seriously, imagine getting out of all hound waves), so it got implemented in this weird half-baked state. It would be good if there were a few more seconds before affected mobs got aggro’d again on Walter, though. Also, I could have sworn that the thulecite frame worked on them. If I’m mistaken, that’s a shame because it makes them so much better.
