Wortox Extra soul Echo too essential. Needs a downside?

That's why Omega was asking you if you skip affinities. It only makes sense to skip Reverb (sometimes) if you are NOT getting an affinity. Otherwise, you're just making a mistake.

I played with it a bit and i can see why its good. this seems to be a common trend in his skill tree. A each capstone connects to another skill and they are all at the ends. soul damage increase is at the end and so is soul yoyo and so is soul decoy explosion. connected yet not connected. makes builds...weird for no reason. I'm holding my judgement until their next pass at the tree, but I'm hoping it gets better

Can't say I see a good angle here to arbitrary sanity loss on the jump, and for most the change would be meaningless because of the fact that previously (and if a person where to have a nice inclination, I prefer nice myself) you would lose sanity on soul consumption, most of the time wortox was constantly battling his sanity more than most. 

Even if the sanity were a big deal for wortox, this is still something most would experience anyway, its just not a change that would meaningfully change wortox for the better design wise, perhaps there could be an argument made for his 50% stat reduction on foods not being a big downside for what he has as a character, but sanity doesn't seem like it has much ground to stand on. 

I really wish there was some more attention on walter though, I literally can't compel myself to play him at all, since the gameplay loop is just... holding down F, nothing much aside from ammo perks and slingshot upgrades that could be condensed into less points. (and woby perks that clash with one another a lot based on woby's size)

wortox although kinda simplistic conceptually (kill to earn health, food and travel advantages) has stuff that is at least fun to play with, from teleporting your friends across the map to being a menace to enemies making a clone of yourself. I won't lie, wortox isn't a character I would call balanced... but he is pretty fun, if you wanna balance him out somehow I wouldn't mind, but sanity changes wouldn't be a really good angle for that.

If the echo reduces sanity, how does naughty Wortox restore it? Its downside is that it's locked behind some other skills (3 insight).

Nice builds get soul jar for just 2 insight, which is much more valuable than Reverb.

I think reverb is fine as is and not as essential as you'd might think. Have you seen the insane soul savings of Capricious Movement after you explore enough? For a more nomadic build I'd definitely pick it over reverb.
