Scalemail should be reworked slightly.

find that incredibly lame for an item that you can consistently obtain from the easiest boss in the whole game.

you do realize not everyone is capable on taking down deerclops, right? not everyone is on pro levels fighting with bosses. the fact that such reward is given to the players who manage to beat it was in fact, very mindful of Klei. not to mention wx players practically need it for spring while going around the world.

even the supposed rain hat only does 70% wetness protection, which is useless when rain lasts waaaaayyyyy much longer than it should. rain coat? oopsie, not everyone wanna deal with tentacles, especially when the spots are harder to get.

umbrella? for just some silks, twigs and pig skins, you can achieve 90% protection. can also be used in summer. so that ain't op? or was getting pig skins and silks harder than fighting a boss?

eyebrella is a good reward for those who manage to go thru one of the hardest hurdles in DS, and that still applies here in DST. I wish other bosses' loots/crafts/items could also ever come close to its usefulness.

yeah, klei original design for boss drop are pretty nice ( all season but summer drops things that help you combat next season)
sadly the boss are design in region of giants and has gotten pretty easy to player that knows they way around bosses

I of course know that not every player of all skill levels can kill Deerclops. That is not the point, nor is it where the goal post of this conversation was previously.

Just my 2 cents but I'd honestly be happy if the scalemail was just a fireproof armor with 90% damage resistance and like 1200 durability (probably would be better without the set on fire effect), sometimes simpler is better and I think a way to get good body armor you can wear all the time without going to the caves would be a nice option to have, no need to add a charge mechanic or whatever

I actually think this suggestion is the best one so far. Simple yet great. 90% is the minimum. And remove the putting things on fire feature.

In it's current state this armor is just a worse bramble husk.

If this armor wants to be crowd control it should get a treatment like Willow's fire(smaller fire that doesn't spread and doesn't burn loot).

Also there's the fact that it costs 3 pig skins(3 potential helmets) it's the same argument as the thulecite club(ingredients for weapons), but this armor has nothing going for it.

if this armor would get 1200 hp and 90%dmg reduction it would be the surface option for thulecite suit

tbh thulecite suit barely has anything unique to it anyway, just a small sanity gain

Perhaps is not the item itself as an upgrade for the log suit is Passable? is the idea of choosing between this and the scaled furnace that makes its not worth crafting perhaps the scale furnace could give you a scale every so often allowing for mass producing of it

Maybe every 10 ingame days the furnace throws a scale out or after burning a logsuit(idk how that would work but the idea of putting 4 items in the furnace and forging an upgrade makes me happy idk why)

Besides, overheating is only a problem when you gain too much heat aka during Klaus fight/lava ponds/summer. It's situational at best. Again, you don't see people yapping about eyebrella being useless in autumn and winter despite it too being a situational item aka works best in spring and summer.

If I were to make scalemail being overheating proof, it should at least be on par or slightly exceeds Willow's own overheating proof perk.
