Game not changing resolution from desktop

Recommended Posts

Probably after the latest QOL update I noticed the game always stays in borderless window mode and not in true fullscreen. Changing resolutions does nothing. E.g. from 1920x1080 to 2560x1080. Game always has the resolution of my Win10 desktop. That's an issue since that makes game stuttering - same symptom as with other games.

Looks like a Unity problem to me. I've latest nvidia drivers and also tried older ones - no effect.

Is there any command line switches or other measures to force the game in fullscreen mode?

Yes, it switched the game into windowed mode. I'm always fullscreen. But the only fullscreen the game currently have is borderless window mode (I know term is confusing), when resolution is the same as desktop.

I wasn't like that 6 months ago when I was playing. Now stuttering kills all the fun.

I found most stuttering happens when I scroll AND move mouse.

Ok, I think I solved my problem.

  • I have Nvidia A2000. Install latest drivers from last week
  • In per program settings for ONI:
    • Power management mode - Max performance
    • Vsync - adaptive
  • Reboot - that was important for my system.

Seems that helped.

Could be due to incorrect monitor refresh rate. I had set 59Hz and the game ran very poorly with hundreds of stutters. You can read about it here, but in the end there are 2 problems for me.

Maybe make a video of it or judge for yourself which one it is.

I was able to have 60Hz but at some point it became broken and video mode automatically switches to 59Hz.

I never had stutters like yours - they are the worst.

The only thing that bothers me - it's not true fullscreen. Actual resolution never changes from desktop. My desktop has wider resolution, so left and right parts of the screen are black. But I can move cursor there! So "in-game resolution" is just a texture size being stretched on the screen. In my experience true fullscreen gives radically better performance.

That worked for me. Something was different I can't say exactly what. Still desktop resolution but probably exclusive fullscreen.

Somehow it gives similar performance on my system. But someone else could find it useful. For me the most significant part is adaptive vsync. Tearing is so much better than stuttering.
