Wendy Grave Crafting

Recommended Posts

I might be alone in thinking this, but I feel like there's absolutely no need to take the "Wendy can make graves perk." It's excessive and inconvenient. If you have to run around looking for skeletons, you might as well run around looking for already existing graves, which are relatively plentiful.

Is the intended design for you to use the Wendy bootleg meat effigy? You could repeatedly off yourself to create skeletons, but I'm not sure that this is worth the hassle.

I feel like grave crafting should be made more attractive. Some quick suggestions that come to my mind are:

1. You can move/dig up skeletons that already exist in the world. Maybe they stack.

2. You can craft your own skeletons to place.

3. You remove the requirement of a skeleton in crafting a grave.

4. You make bigspooks considerably more powerful, which would encourage you to go through the hassle of making graves.

(I'm suggesting one of the above things, not everything simultaneously)

Of course there may be better ideas I haven't yet considered, but I feel like some kind of change is warranted. Thoughts?

Bigspooks are plenty powerful if bee queen videos are any indication.

3 bigspooks do nearly the same damage as Abigail at night. They respawn if killed, so they're also great decoys.

Maybe people are just spoiled by Graves 1 doing so many things after being condensed down.

Then again, I'd like it if Wendy could make a hundred graves in one spot easier. There's a pretty great soul farm for Wortox based on that.

Wendy was already the 2nd strongest character to Bee Queen without tree, the 1st is Maxwell.

I don't know what meaning to buff something which is already easy (even could call it as brainless) for a character.

Just a personal opinion, but I think that's good.

One picks a character for

1) Their abilities 2) The stuff they're good at.

Skill trees making characters better at what they're good at, instead of making them good at everything is nice.

Bigspooks don't need a buff. I've used them against Dragonfly and Bee Queen, and even without ideal setup or utilization, they can put out more than enough damage to be worth it. As in, enough damage that you can stun Dragonfly and get extra scales with just a dark sword and Abigail.

Grave crafting, though? You've got some good points. It's just not worth it when there's so many graves in the world (especially if you rush AG to steal the graves from his area) and you can just move them when you need to. Being unable to make skeletons without dying is the main reason why crafting them isn't worth the effort.

I think the best fix would be letting Wendy craft skeletons out of bones and honey (to represent her sticking them together, like a glue).
Maybe also let her craft non-player skeletons for decorative purposes - pig and merm skeletons if you throw in a pig skin or a spoiled fish, maybe even the stage 4 koalefant carcass if you use a trunk, that kind of thing. Wendy is obsessed with death and gloomy stuff, so why not give her the ability to decorate the base with a variety of skeletons?

Don't forget the aesthetic part. I don't play Wendy, but I want to see her in my long-living worlds to build nice graveyards.Honestly to me it's the only one thing I really waiting for from this update. This and making batterflies alive (for lights out). I even collect corpses now =_=.

Maybe a compass that points to the nearest skeleton? Making bigspooks more powerful would probably have the opposite effect as I initially thought because you could 'get away' with using fewer graves -> no reason to make any. Such a compass would also have the secondary effect of making it easier to find your stuff after you die in a weird spot and get resurrected somewhere far away.

Moving [grave moving] to Graves II seems to be a relatively okay gentle nerf that makes Graves II a little bit more appealing.

It's subtle but it makes the skill tree less freeform. Before, Graves I just gave you everything valuable in the branch, for one insight point.

Making the graves require shells to move also makes it a little bit more difficult to set up your graveyard in your base, and your second mini graveyard near bee queen. I think that's a good thing, too. Feels more like a quest. Before, you could do that day 1 if you were lucky.

I mean...technically you can? You said it yourself, you can let Wendy die to create skeletons and revive with things you can craft, be it life amulets, portal, other player using telltale hearts on you, meat effigy, and Wendy herself can now craft her own revive stone too. Even if you don't like the revival perk, you could for example choose that perk, craft many revive tombs, and once you have the skeletons set up you change the perk on portal

I argue that it isn't worth the hassle of dying. It's also a little bit contradictory with letting Abigail haunt things. We're giving you the benefits of dying without you having to die, but actually just kidding because you still have to die anyway in order to craft your stuff.
