DST and New Home for mobile ?

Isn't that a bad idea? Isn't this dividing the fan base ? ( This will not work in a good way as with DS, because these are both service games. )

What can lower the money and can lead to death for both games?

Is DST mobile being developed by Klei or Netflix themselves?

Will waiting so long for a New Home really lead to this?

What are your thoughts on this situation?

Netflix sponsored the DST mobile project, the publisher would be Playdigious. So far, it's still in the works.

As for Newhome, who knows lol. I think it's probably just a Chinese-exclusive.

No original DS fan base will cares about newhome, it's just going to miserably rot to death in some dark corner somewhere.

I really hope I can play DST mobile outside of Netflix gaming.

So many good apps that I’d love to buy require the dumb Netflix subscription (like Moonlighter & TMNT Shredders Revenge) But I wish they also offered NON-Netflix subscription versions too (like How there’s a Deadcells Netflix version, and a paid app version outside of Netflix)

Im also extremely surprised (& also equally disappointed…) that we got an announcement for Dont Starve Together Mobile before we EVER Got Hamlet Mobile.

I have been waiting for Hamlet PE for FOREVER 

(and also for Klei to update Shipwrecked PE to include RoG content Webber & Wigfrid still aren’t playable in SW Mobile.)

True, true.

I think the real shame was that both PE and SW mobile weren't updated to be on par with the PC version. It's the least they ought to do - to update them - especially when there are still many players who did buy those, yet was left unsatisfied by the vast difference between PC version and mobile. Bees in PE are still horrible and having such huge attack ranges compared to the fixed PC one.

Klei really should either update those ports or pull them off the shelves - spare the others from getting disappointed by an unfulfilling game port.

I have to think it's very unlikely you get DST mobile outside of Netflix, or at least outside of Netflix anytime soon. 

Netflix is presumably paying them a chunk of change, and part of Netflix gamings things is no MTX (meaning you'd need different versions for Netflix and ios/android) 

Maybe Netflix pays for an exclusive period (ie 12-24 months) but my guess is it's Netflix only for a while

On the video platform Bilibili, the latest post from the official New Home account dates back to May 9, 2024, and there has been no news about this game for the past half year. 饥困荒野官方个人动态-饥困荒野官方动态记录-哔哩哔哩视频

Based on my observation, the Chinese DS/DST player base hardly anticipates this game, and a considerable number of players are quite disappointed and dissatisfied with New Home for straying from the survival game mechanics, introducing a plethora of in-game purchases, and deviating from the DS art style.

I personally like the art style they did, just that maybe a thinner lineart would suffice.

But still, it's quite a shame to not see anything fruitful coming out of it. I'm rather interested in their take of "what if Charlie didn't free Wilson from the Throne?".
