As far as I can tell, dark petal production has been neglected.

Recommended Posts

The decision to merge Grave relocation and graves by Wendy was a good one that really improved the value of the skill line, but from testing, the production of evil flowers appears to be unchanged from the start of beta - 2-3 dark petals over ~6 days per gravestone.

The main issue with this is that the dark flower production is objectively worse than haunt. While haunt is RNG, it's undeniably still faster, and has an identical, if not better, dark petal production rate in comparison to the gravestone skills. Considering how easy nightmare fuel is to amass, especially as Wendy, The rate needs to be improved to be a positive exchange rate to make up for the time delay.

I believe it was mentioned in one of the dev posts as a target for changes, so I'm unsure as to why it was neglected.

The dark petal was originally adapted to the shroud, but the shroud was removed, and it is a little useless now, except for putting it in the urn to provide the aura of reducing sanity.

Wendy doesn't lack nightmare fuel. She can get it by killing shadow monkeys.

If dark petals in the sisturn could provide additional gains, such as increasing the duration of the shadow buff.

The grave skill removes the sanity loss from evil flowers, right? You'd probably still want the skill if you want to farm petals

Yes, but I'm entirely referring to the actual mechanic of dark petal producation. Bigspooks & Grave Relocation are fine as is.

what's the point of dark petals anyway? nobody's going to craft nightmare fuel with them, and the only useful thing that needed it (reskin sweeper) had its recipe changed.

If you join a public server there's like an 80% chance there will be a Wendy player that uses Abigail to fight everything, never crafts a weapon, and stands at the sisturn for minutes each day to avoid nightmare creatures (also some people I know do that).  I think the dark petals are for this type of player, who actually would use it to get nightmare fuel and would want to craft the items that require nightmare fuel but are otherwise unable.  Clearly there are better sources though, yea, and for other types of players it's still cool to have them aesthetically.

Not everything has to be useful.

Uhhh.... Yeah.... Everything should be...

Should somethings only have niche applications, QOL or be marginal improvements? sure.

This aspect to the skill is none of those things.
