Data miner max efficiency achievement not working (?)

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

I was working on one of the new achievements (Data Miner) that asks me to "Produce a Data Bank using a Data Miner operating at max efficiency." After playing around for a little bit, I see that the temperature is linked to efficiency - the lower, the more efficient. I got a room all set up and lowered to -271.2 F, and the efficiency of the Data Miner is 533% - as high as I can get it. Using a storage bin and an auto sweeper, I get one Data Bank produced. During the production, the heat rises, but the efficiency never drops below 533%. However, I don't get the achievement.

Has anyone else tried this achievement? Were you successful? If so, am I doing anything wrong?

For reference, I have no mods running, I am running the most up to date version, and I have closed out, reloaded a save and all that sort of troubleshooting. This has been fun to explore how to do this, but unfortunately, with no payoff. :( Any help you could provide would be awesome!

i got it, no mods. Just chilled it using a conduction panel with super coolant. All the gas in the room liquified/solidified and stopped conduction. Anyway, I didn't get it right away, had to run it half a turn or so before it clicked. i didn't use any special sweeping or smart bins, i just let it fall.

Well, I have saved and reloaded multiple times - produced 10 items at max efficiency and waited more than 10 cycles and nothing...this is so strange. I found a YouTube that shows this triggering right after making one. However, I have done this many times with no luck. I even uninstalled and reinstalled tonight and it still won't trigger. Perhaps I will have to start all over again. This sucks.

Ok, posting here in case anyone else has this issue.

The conduction panels I was using were made from gold. When I made the Data Banks, the efficiency never dropped below 533% the entire time the Data Bank was being made. However, when I went back and looked at the ONE YouTube video on this, the guy used Aluminum instead of gold. So, I tried that, and it worked! My suggestion is to use Aluminum for the conduction panels, get the temp down to at least -271.7, then make one and you should be good.

I got it first try. Peeking at the implementation it does do an equality check between two floats, although I'm not sure if floating point imprecision is the root cause for your issue.

Ouch. Beginner's mistake there.
