The first time you're just assembling some old mammoth bones and suddenly they start moving on their own. Edit: Forgot the shadow atrium, which is probably what you meant. I actually meant the thurible, as in, building a skeleton, putting a heart on it, and controlling it with the thurible is the closest I can think of that we can get to actual necromancy in this game. And maybe Wurt's shadow merms. 8 hours ago, Lee lol said: Wes is indeed an unlucky man. He is definitely the most innocent person in the constant. I agree that every character who enters the constant has their reasons. Maybe they have more or less made mistakes or studied shadow magic - they are not innocent. Not everything did something terrible, like, webber just snuck up on his father's study, and got attacked by one of his inventions. Is not a good thing he did, but being fused with a spider and transported to the constant is a bit of a disproportionate punishment for his misbehaviour. 8 hours ago, Lee lol said: Yes, the constant is a terrible place. Maybe they will change after entering constant, and they are no longer the same as before. You need to be cruel and cold to survive in a terrible place, which is in line with the tone of DST. It's just that I've been playing DST for too long and rarely feel the pressure of survival, so I more or less ignore this point. Yes, I completely agree! But then I see the trailers of DST made by Klei for new content, and many times the survivors in there have worse equipment than many nobs you see in public servers. Combine that with content like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0-FKZG6tE4, and it makes me believe the survivors in the constant are canonically not very competent. (I know that some people cannot access youtube, so with the chance of triggering JoeW's wrath, I downloaded it in low quality and uploaded it here. Sorry, coudln't find it in bilibili) Don’t Starve Tales: Inevitable (Musical).mp4 8 hours ago, Lee lol said: PS. In fact, I don't strongly oppose Wendy's grave skills and resurrection skills. I just think it's interesting to discuss her character. I do believe she has compassion, and she'll probably hesisate to do something evil to her fellow survivors, but I'm not sure how the survivors actually see the pigs, and other creatures of the constant. From what I've seen of Wendy's quotes, she's not the most emphatetic to others, she's very cold to the mobs around her and wishing for either death, her own death, or comenting about the futility of life. Mosling- "A new life. The last thing anyone needs." Bearger- "It could crush me in one blow. I wish it would." Ewecus- "I should put it out of its misery." Nearby Mosquitoes- "Mosquitoes! Let my veins be a feast!" I'm not saying she's pure evil or anything, but compassion is not exactly the first word that comes to my mind when I think of Wendy. Maybe she has some for your fellow non-Abigail man. Very very very deep down. Her personality is very similar to Wednesday from Adams family like @RussoDaFederal said, which I really did enjoy a lot back in the day. Maybe that's why I connected with her Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162703-a-portion-of-wendys-skill-tree-conflicts-with-her-character-and-background/page/4/#findComment-1781715 Share on other sites

I think I'll watch that movie later. It sounds very interesting, thanks for your recommendation! Blue Gem- "Blue like... er... a sad bird?" Purple Gem- "Purple like a... purple thing." Even the "Kill the pig! Spill his blood!" is just a movie quote, Lord of the flies. Which I'm pretty sure was around even before Maxwell and Charlie got sucked in the constant. She's quoting a movie. I also don't think it's a question of if she has care for anyone/anything other than Abby, she obviously does. But in the constant, most things don't reciprocate. Smallbird- "Hello there, little one." Smallish Tallbird- "Will you leave me too?" (Ends up betraying her at adulthood, as well as when starving. Which she seeme very angry about) Trying to bond with another beef- "I will not replace my dear beefalo." She's also seems very sad, the most sad out of the cast even, when examining the corpse of a beefalo bonded to a shadow bell. I also would like to add that mourning glory | is only a cruel skill in combination with the shadow alignment, where it makes it so that you're putting butterflies through an endless cycle of death. Otherwise, it's just resurrecting butterflies. I don't think Wendy is as cruel as she seems by her quotes, a lot of them are probably just her trying to be edgy or projecting her suicidal tendencies onto other creatures. I don't think that viewing the cast getting dragged to the constant as them doing bad stuff and getting punished for it. They really didn't do much, most of them were just in hopless situations. And most of the things in the constant are hostile. Even pigmen are hostile to Webber and the monster characters, which are friends of the others. Many of Wendy's lines do come from some movies or masterpieces... I don't know if this is part of her character? A gloomy girl who likes to read? When I say that they are not innocent, I don't mean that they are guilty, but they all have something they long for, whether it is gaining strength, saving their loved ones or learning shadow magic... In short, they were deceived by Maxwell and entered the constant, which really seems to be a deal, at least they are voluntary, except for Wes. There are multiple ones to choose from, but if you do wanna watch, I would recommend the 1991 film, and specially the sequel from 1993, which are the ones that really popularized the character of Wednesday in popular culture. 50 minutes ago, Debruh said: I don't think that viewing the cast getting dragged to the constant as them doing bad stuff and getting punished for it. Most of the cast, with some exceptions like Walter, Winona, Wes, and the ones that were already in the constant, did make a deal with Maxwell, which is what got them into the situation they're in. It doesn't mean they're bad, just that they were willing to cross the line for something they wanted really badly. Or just weren't smart enough to read the fine print, like Wigfrid. 50 minutes ago, Debruh said: Even the "Kill the pig! Spill his blood!" is just a movie quote, Lord of the flies. Which I'm pretty sure was around even before Maxwell and Charlie got sucked in the constant. She's quoting a movie. Book was written in 1954, movie was out in 1963, and from what we know most of the survivors were abducted early 1900's. It is a culture reference, just like how she makes a reference to Edgar Allan Poe when examining a raven, so I don't really consider the Narnia or pop culture references that character defining. I see Wendy as someone who's had had death on her mind for months, or even years, and now sees death everywhere, and sees death as a way to possibly reunite with Abigail and end the suffering. Not cruel, but someone who cannot let go of death. She might seek connection with creatures of the constant that seem more innocent, which is why I said the quotes of her interacting with the rest of the cast are the most heartwarming. And yes, taming creatures and creating a bond with them, and having them die would likely trigger memories of losing Abigail. Wendy is likely the one that deals with loss the worst out of all the cast. I never called her cruel, just cold blooded, as in, desensitized to everything around her, and that maybe she finds it hard to get attached to most creatures of the constant. Regarding Wendy, we know she entered the constant at around April 16, 1914 because of her journal entry, so any pop culture references that come later is just Klei having fun Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162703-a-portion-of-wendys-skill-tree-conflicts-with-her-character-and-background/page/4/#findComment-1781748 Share on other sites
