Pipspooks is still a individual boring gameplay for Wendy, it need change

Recommended Posts

Pipspooks do nothing to other players but only make them anxiety about this poor little ghost (which decreasing other character's sanity)

Pipspooks have no other interaction with Wendy, they only appear as a little-game quest.

the little-game of Pipspooks give never a "DST" style gameplay, it's individual from DST world and boring.

Could we have more interaction with Pipspooks in future? even make them as a temporary follower after the quest completely, to give some benefit buff to Wendy would be far better than current stage.

Pipspook can be kept as a follower as long as you do not finish their find lost stuff quests. Pipspooks will lower the sanity of non-Wendy players.

This is something I hope Klei does not ever change, it allows me to help Willow passively lower her sanity to activate Bernie without needing to waste a bunch of sanity foods to do so, They are also a Godsend useful tool for Maxwell who has trouble EVER losing Sanity.

Pipspook and repeatedly jumping in and out of a wormhole are two ways to quickly lower his sanity for free.

But if I personally was going to give them an additional interaction between Wendy/other players I’d make it so that Wendy’s Abigail Flowers when crafted and given to a another player will get a Pipspook to tag along and follow that other player, the Pipspook (depending on the bloom rate of Abigail herself) will glow.. (aka they become giant ghostly Bulbous Lightbugs)

I would prefer that over drinking a potion for Night Vision.

I have always felt that this is important because pipspooks are the foundation of many of Wendy's features. I have also written an article specifically for this, I don't know if you mind if I promote it here Ah, although it has already been mentioned by friends, thank you very much!

This mini-game is somewhat similar to the Divining Rod in DS Adventure Mode. However, in Adventure Mode, the fun factor of this game far exceeds that of Pipspooks.

I think the main reason is that the former helps you explore the different, uniquely styled maps in each chapter of Adventure Mode, giving you a sense of achievement through collecting parts and progressing to the next chapter. Moreover, each world in Adventure Mode is different, and the exploration process feels refreshing. It's also a core gameplay element that runs throughout the entire Adventure Mode.

However, Pipspooks doesn’t bring me any sense of novelty; it doesn’t help me explore the world. Its gameplay is always the same, and the repetitive nature just makes me feel bored or even frustrated, especially when the toys in Pipspooks were generated across the river... Right now, I'm using a mod to simplify this collection process—repeatedly finding these toys is just too tedious. In the Uncompromising Mode changes to the Sisturn, the decaying petals turn into Mourning Glory rather than Rots. This not only fits the background design of the Sisturn but is also quite practical (it simplifies the process of collecting Mourning Glory and prevents mice in Uncompromising Mode).

How to make pipspook gameplay exciting:

Pipspooks turn into a hostile mini-boss if you take too long to finish their quests.

If you abandon the pipspook, they will get angry, try to chase you and die in a huge explosion after 10 seconds.

I really appreciate the changes made to this aspect in Uncompromising Mode; it's a well-thought-out solution that aligns with the actual gameplay experience. Unlike some suggestions that are unbelievably foolish:wilson_ecstatic:.

Your brilliance is truly unmatched, I couldn’t agree more. The developers should definitely bring you on to design the game—no one else could possibly have better ideas.

You know, I can't say I'm all that surprised you suggest a mini-boss due to what all your conversations revolve around so far.

Alright FItzee, let's hear your banger, non-combat suggestion for making pipspooks fun.

I like the idea. So, we can still agree on something, can't we?

I was ignored this person by my block list, but thanks to your reply I saw a creative idea. It's interesting.

And yeah, who to abandon someone need to be punished.

Unnecessary defensiveness aside, I don't have a suggestion of my own; unlike other people from time to time, I'm not going to lie and pretend I do.

I just figured I point out how fitting your suggestion is, that's all.

Have a sense a humor, why dont'cha.

That is my sense of humor.... dude chill out.

So was Lardee telling a joke? I feel sad because i take his suggestion seriously.

Anyways, back to the topic.

@Steorra, do you have any suggestions of your own on how to freshen the Pipspook experience?

can i have some suggestions?

something like: there are some ghost Hound surrounding Pipspook.

and we rescued Pipspook to start it.

during the game, pipspook will stay along with us, and there will be a ghost hound attacks.

Considering there are different designs of pipspooks, would be nice if they had different types as well to spice it up. I don't really have good ideas but here they are:

Sad Pipspook: The one in game

Bereaved Pipspook: Help it reunite with another pipspook/bigspook

Scared/Vengful Pipspook: Died to something, take revenge ig

Angry Pipspook/Bigspook: It tries to attack anything, including Wendy. This one doesn't have to be at a grave, maybe you could find them wandering around or something, could act as a source of mourning glory not necessarily tied to graves. Other survivors can just kill it, Wendy can calm it down with flowers for mourning glory or smth

Maybe it could be like this: when each pikspook task is completed, it has a chance to become a bigspook, and Wendy can hire it with mourning glory, and it will follow Wendy; If Wendy doesn't hire it, it will return to its grave and exist as a ghost, but become a friendly ghost.

Off the top of my head...
Passive version of pipspook fun maybe has a chance to take you to an unmarked grave where you can dig it up to collect bone shards that can be crafted into remains for other altars or grave sights instead of dying on it all the time, or it gives gems but this is like the new Woby, or maybe other useful crafting materials like thulecite fragments, but this is only a small chance like 10% for these or something. Or items, which might be rare like .1 for a staff or idk. You'd need a shovel for this, otherwise, instead of digging up the grave, you Decorate it (using established skill tree stuff) and when you do, the ghost in there thanks you with the item or belonging, whatever.
For more aggressive, if there is a restless spirit in the unmarked grave, and we go shovel route, it spawns a hostile of some kind maybe, or maybe the ghost hexes you, like opening a trapped trunk and you are now poisoned for a bit DoT maybe.
However, I always found that digging up graves and relocating them to be a bit, out of character, for Wendy though, since she is attuned to ghosts because of Abigail, I would think she'd find this disrespectful, since it is. You're literally stealing their headstone and moving their place of rest and leaving their bones behind and putting new ones in their place, at one option, the other being you're carrying their remains too and relocating them away from possible family/friends/comfort etc. There's also the issue if only Wendy can move graves, sounds a little griefy (I don't know if this was updated or not yet). I have ideas for changes on this if they haven't, but not in this post.
I purposely didn't suggest them being followers or doing damage or helping with fighting since it might come off as too much, too op, etc. It's also aggro/fighting and I was trying to think of more passive stuff.
Sorry this isn't more coherent. I'm super tired.

feeeling sad by misclick and all words here was missing ................

in short:

Pipspooks would have chance to become a follower with 1 day (maybe 2 days, or maybe could increasing their duration by costing Mourning Glouries) duration after their quest was completed.

1. Giving appeasing aura, +50san/day, +1hp/s for Abi

2. Giving encouraging aura, +10% damage bonus to Wendy, Abi and their teammates who nearby, doesn't work for planar damage

3. Giving steady aura, -10% damage taken for Wendy, Abi and their teammates who nearby, work for planar damage

4. A pipspook follower who randomly threat (huant) small mobs who being hostile to Wendy.

My ideas are still immature, but I'm sure if we could have something like these, pipspook would be more important for Wendy and her teammates.

And YuRinshue has gave some interesting ideas for pipspook as well. these idea focusing on various quest extension for pipspooks

this sounds good, but I hope our pipspook need not to become a ghost-adult...

I'm ready for little pipspooks with different sapling "hairstyles".

yes I sharing same feeling with you, the current grave interaction seems like disrespect to ghosts

This may not be in line with the setting...
Also, it's a bit rude
Maybe this is your habit...?
But I still hope you can come up with more useful and constructive content instead of refuting for the sake of refuting
No one will be happy because of you...( _ _)ノ|
