Wendy skilltree, electric boogaloo pt.645651

Recommended Posts

Yet another "Wendy skilltree suggestions" topic, I know.
But I actually think we are getting somewhere with this skilltree and I begin to like it.

Blessed Sisturn
this is the most underwhelming and skippable set of skills in this skilltree, sadly

Blessed Sisturn I - preserves Petals placed in Sisturn to last twice as long: 6 days normally to 12. This is bad. The chilling aura of death can do better.

Blessed Sisturn II - this is not only uninteresting but also unimpactful skill to have in practice. It has nothing to do with the Sisturn itself. I'd say remove this filler skill entirely. It does virtually nothing and it's painful to take.

Blessed Sisturn III & IV - these are good ideas, but leaving Abigail at Sisturn to gain temporary health is unengaging and it doesn't really benefit Wendy much. It would be better to have 300 more max hp than 600 hp shield. Even 100 more max hp would be better actually, because it gives more room for error, allows to use healing Elixirs and Abi's passive regeneration. Temporary health (actually just shield) doesn't work well with other Abi perks whatsoever and forces unengaging gameplay repetitively.

Morning Glory (sp.?)
this is a good set of skills, need some adjustments, but I like it a lot

Mourning Glory I - it has been said by many already: 4 MG for 1 Butterfly is a lot even with Pipspook Quest skills taken. It's ridiculous cost without them. In my opinion even 2 is a lot with current rate of MG farming without Pipspook Quests.
Also, to make it slightly harder to abuse Shadow Sisterhood III, I'd make this craft exclusive to standing near fully adorned Sisturn. Just a thought.

Mourning Glory II - I'm not so sure about this one...
Why does the Wraith's Wreath spoil if it's made out of Mourning Glories which don't? Maybe just add some Petals into crafting recipe to justify that... 6 at that so it's 12 summed just like the Garland.
I don't like how you're supposed to apply potions through the Wreath but you just drink them straight up. Right click action applying the potion to the Abi Flower is also strange here. This craft seems to be really problematic, even in theory... Anyway, given how strong this might be itself I would have Wraith's Wreath at Mourning Glory III and Perennial Altar at Mourning Glory II.

Mourning Glory III - Perennial Altar is awesome and I love it. Cute graphics, great animations, fantastic idea. Even if it's just a reskinned Meat Effigy I adore it.

Pipspook Quest
these are just QoL skills - simple but great

Pipspook Quest I, II & III - easy, cute, next.

Team Spirit
half of these are somewhat QoL skills, so fine we have it, even if they cost Insight, the other two are ok

Team Spirit I & II - useful, I think one of these should be default for Abigail Flower and the other should be the starting point for this set of skills.
Escape is just faster Unsummon and Summon (should Soothe Abigail in my opinion), so this should be available by default.
Attack At could use some tough up, because Abigail doesn't continue to attack after the dash usually.
Other than that - fine.

Team Spirit III - ok, could have just a tiny effect on bosses, like even 1 second interruption in attack period could be a nice addition even if it didn't change much overall.

Team Spirit IV - also ok, but if the success rate isn't made higher (as many suggest), by default Abigail could just try to haunt targeted thing until success or until another command is given. Just a QoL thing.

Elixirs skillset
really good set of skills, Casket should be separated though

Picnic Casket - awesome to have a portable storage for Elixirs, shame it can only store 8 out of 9... I would also suggest to make it horizontal instead of vertical in orientation. Small change, but would make a lot of sense if you consider how a Picnic Casket looks like. (jk)
Another bummer thing is to have it as a requirement for other Elixir Skills. Wigfrid can take her Canister skill, craft it and forget, I don't get why Wendy has to remember the crafting at all times for other Elixir skills...
I'd actually suggest having this skill be unlockable by helping a Pipspook find its toys or some other thing and be a standalone skill.

Ghastly Expirience - I love this one, probably one of my favourite things that has come out in this skilltree so far, along with the Casket idea. It allows to mess up and still have that emergency airbag to limit the damage.

Strong Brew - the name is a little misleading: Strong Brew should empower the effect, while a Lasting Brew should prolong it. Not a fan of the name, but the skill does what it should otherwise... Oh wait, it does nothing for the Spectral Cure-All, THE Elixir. Just make it stronger, as the name suggests, and heal 40 per second over 30 seconds. I doesn't do much with max hp being 600, but maybe the heal won't get outdamaged by a Treequard at least ;)
I'd make all Elixirs just a bit stronger rather than last twice as long. Especially since Spectral Cure-All removes them there's no need for lasting more time. Or maybe change the name to "Lasting Brew" and make them last twice as long and make Spectral Cure-All not cancel them, so they may actually last twice as long.

Extra Yield - it's fine, but I'd drop the occasional 3 copies crafted for the increased rate of just 2 copies crafted. Players don't like RNG too much. Also there might be a spelling error in the description - "Elixers"?

Graves skillset
not a fan of those myself, but I don't mind them too much

Grave Beautification - with no Evil Flowers crafts this skill is kind of outdated... Doesn't do much itself, idk if Bigspook spawn Evil Flowers when Wendy isn't close, but it doesn't even matter, because Evil Flowers crafts got dropped during updates. I don't get this skill, I consider it kind of worthless to take...

Final Resting Place? - this is alriiight... Question mark? It's a shame only Wendy can dig up gravestones, I also don't like the Graves being connected to Gravestones and that you cannot do anything to a once dug up Grave. I think it's dumb but what can I do about it?
It's fine you can set up a Graveyard near your base, but I still consider this should be possible by default. No griefing potential if anyone could dig them up and move. No one benefits from Gravestones anyway so why not make this accessible by everyone?
Also, the Chinese are kind of right to be upset by Wendy becoming "the Gravedigger of Constant" all of a sudden. I don't like it either.

Gravestones By Wendy - this one is lit, I mean grave addition! You could actually remove the other two skills and just let Wendy make her own Gravestones where she pleases. I do like this skill very much. It would be awesome if you could choose the type of Gravestone crafted, but so would be choosing Potted Ferns or Succulents varians, so it is what it is. Still like that quite a lot.
It could also be a standalone skill unlocked by digging up or planting a Gravestone (as it would be accesible by default).

Vengeful Ghost
yea, this one

Vengeful Ghost - I only don't hate this skill because there is no need to take it ever. It's a "fun" skill, so be it.
To make it actually interesting it should read "When Wendy is killed, her spirit is vengeful and able to wreak havoc on the living world." Period. Idk why make it "fun" and global if it could be actually interesting (and useful as well) for the player taking the skill.

If we can have this standalone skill, add two more: Picnic Casket and Gravestones By Wendy, lock them behind "Expirience death to unlock.", "Have 6 different Ghostly Elixirs in your inventory to unlock." and "Examine a skeleton to unlock." and we have some interactive skills to choose from. I really liked those in Wigfrid skilltree. Miss them dearly...

Lunar Sisterhood

Lunar Sisterhood I - 15 Planar Defense is meh. Imagine: Abigail takes -10% damage from Lunar Aligned creatures and deals +10% damage to Shadow Aligned creatures.

Lunar Sisterhood II - Luminous Wrath seems pretty bad, idk exact numbers but it seems like 10 flat Planar Damage? Really underwhelming. Also it promotes uninteractive gameplay of just buffing Abigail damage. Maybe make the effect of this potion more defensive, so Abigail dodges an attack upon being hit similarly to Maxwell's Shadow Duelists?

Lunar Sisterhood III - Gestalt Abigail was a problem because she was strong and didn't die. Now she is weaker and more fragile. She got nerfed twice, which turned her 4 times worse. She should be weaker, but she should have harder time dying. If you don't want her to be untargetable maybe at least give her Planar Entity Protection, so she doesn't die so easily.
Or make her attacks strong and fast but rarely, so she spends a lot of time just evading fight. Also she could disappear and teleport somewhere upon taking damage to reduce damage taken.
Finally, locking Abigail at 1 hp if she takes lethal damage at 25%+ hp should be Blessed Sisturn skill, not Lunar Sisterhood III exclusive. Blessed Sisturn are newbie friendly focused so they should have a skill that would unsummon Abigail at low hp instead of dying entirely.

Shadow Sisterhood

Shadow Sisterhood I - 15 Planar Defense is meh. Imagine: Abigail takes -10% damage from Shadow Aligned creatures and deals +10% damage to Lunar Aligned creatures.

Shadow Sisterhood II - Cursed Vexation seems pretty good, I don't know exact numbers but at least it promotes interactive gameplay of Wendy fighting along Abigail.

Shadow Sisterhood III - the idea is great but the maintenance is cumbersome. I play with Shadow Affinity most of the time and I don't use this skill too much. I only see it when I murder a Fish...
As fine as it is, in Don't starve Singleplayer you could Summon Abigail by killing something even out of your inventory, so maybe allow this effect to trigger even when Abigail kills something? Or if Wendy kills something herself. For normal weaker mobs it doesn't do that much and for bosses there are only few summoning their minions, so this would make Abigail this stronger against them. QoL change imo, but maybe I'm just too lazy :D

Summing it up: I think there are some strong ideas in this skilltree, some skills or even sets of them need more thought and adjustments, but I start to like this skilltree, it kind of grew on me like Evil Flowers on a Gravestone, hehe.

And that wraps it up.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

PS
Wraith's Wreath is a rabbithole of it's own, but I have an idea about it, so look out for Yet another "Wendy skilltree suggestions" topic coming soon ;)

Here it is:

I think making the sisturn be equal the the merm king for abby would be a good way to go about dealing with that upgrade.

Yea, Sisturn is in a strange spot currently. It was said to help Abigail get back to her full potential but with Ghastly Expirience you can skip Sisturn entirely and will never miss it much...

I loved your idea to place different kind of Petals in it, so Gestalt Abi would be obtainable by placing 4 Lunetree Blossoms and so on. The only thing I believe transforming her at the Moon Dial accomplishes is having to choose the type of Abigail for the next 10 days until the next New Moon. This way you cannot have both the horde clearing machine and solo boss cheat code at hand.

I have seen plenty of suggestions about filling moon flowers or other things into the Sisturn, and I think its a good idea, don’t know why they haven’t added it.

I believe it would make it too easy to have both AoE Abi and single target Abi. You'd be able to just take out Flowers and return to non-Gestalt form with a click of a button.

我相信这将同时拥有 AoE Abi 和单一目标 Abi 拆分太容易了。您只需单击一下按钮即可取出花朵并返回非格式塔形式。

However, I think it's also possible to use a fixed cooldown instead of having to use Moon Dial at a specific time

Considering the intent of this skill is to double down on how Abby is, I think this (plus maybe adding extra vulnerability?) Would be nice.

From what I have seen, this seems to be already implemented

Was fighting clockworks in the ruins during my lunar alignment test runs, and Abby did more damage to the clockworks
