Ruperstiltskin
Seeing that almost anyone agrees that walter really need some form of inventory management container for ammo heres some ideas i would love about it. Since klei said that using that ammo in combat would be innefficient i would love that i could work something like this: With alt+right click you get to open the bag, a plain old container to put stuff inside (same function as Maxwell hats). With right click it triggers a wheel command thingy like the others character have with spells with the ammo inside the bag, clicking any ammo in the wheel puts it on the primary fire of the equiped slinghsot. Example: the focus bag from Thaumcraft mod in Minecraft or just plain willow spells, that let you see an updated hud anytime the items inside change. (For combat uses, i usually key the last item slot of the inventory to middle mouse click or side mouse click so i can use that item better without clicking on it with the mouse itself, i usually do that with maxwell book, willow embers and winona remote) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162057-walter-marble-bag/ Share on other sites
kroban
Yeah I think an ammo bag was a really missed oportunity for Walter, its crazy that Wendy got a bag for her elixirs when most Wendy players I know only use like 2 or 3 (heal, regeneration, nightstinger elixir, and thats pretty much it). I appreciate the increase in ammo per slot to 120, but since Walter has 17 different ammos now an ammo bag would have been useful to carry many different types and save any leftover ammo. Klei could have easily added the ammo bag as a tier 2 or tier 3 on the branch where you get more ammo per craft. I hope they do add it, and an ammo bag based on the Thaumcraft bag sounds pretty good tbh. Just thinking about carrying moonglass, gunpowder, shockscrap, dreadstone, cursed, horror, freeze and slow rounds, etc makes me anxious about the inventory management Walter players will have to go through lol Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162057-walter-marble-bag/#findComment-1771081 Share on other sites
MisterBilly
I believe the 120 max stack of ammo was made because they wanted to avoid an ammo bag Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162057-walter-marble-bag/#findComment-1771084 Share on other sites

HowlVoid
Just now, Ruperstiltskin said: First of: SHE* second of all: yeah but if they say a container its inconvinient for combat you wouldnt guess what other option its worse (its woby) you cant even access her inv mounting her and she tries to run away mid combat soooo So put your ammo in your main inventory and what would normally be in your inventory in woby. Adapting to a situation is part of the game. Carrying all ammo is just as silly as carrying all slingshot customizable parts at all times. There wouldn't be a reason to downgrade. Its for the same reason people don't carry around a darksword and your old Spear. Walter is more likely to hold his current most accessible ammo, and a stack of the material needed to craft more. Just as people carry a stack of living logs and fuel. Just as people carry a stack of living logs and fuel. Theres a lot more factors to consider on Walter's ammo than "just replace it bro"... Some ammo replaces lower tier but theres now many ammo with different effects, in mid game moonglass, gunpowder, shockscrap, cursed rounds, horror rounds, and dreadstone all play a different role, you can't just upgrade all to cursed rounds because theres different levels of accesibility for the ingredients and even then, they all have a different effects. Cursed rounds and horror rounds will be the "boss combo", but you can't just carry all the material on Woby because they require 4 different ingredients (thul fragments and fuel + pure horror and rocks) , so the most likely scenario is...leaving stacks of those on chests and having to go to your base and either carrying all the diferent type of ammo, or change the entire ammo in your inventory solely for a boss kill and then go back again and do the same? Gunpowder is technically the one you will be using the most for early, and it requires 3 ingredients. 120 gunpowder won't last you much, so you will need to carry most likely 2 or 3 stacks. The "easiest" stacks of ammo to carry are for slows and freeze rounds, but if you are not using those for a while it becomes -2 inventory slots. Carrying all the material is cumbersome as hell, you end up with leftover ammo + the material stack, if people are always throwing darkswords at low % what do you think will happen with a Walter each time he ends up with that leftover ammo? Meanwhile Wendy and Wigfrid have their own containers while they only use like...3 elixirs/2 songs the mayority of the game lol Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/162057-walter-marble-bag/#findComment-1771187 Share on other sites

I think you raise a lot of good points. Though I still want to point back to Woby and it that she is supposed to be the ammo pouch. I think wether people think it is an effective means of extra ammo space or not, that was the intention behind her being implemented. Wouldn't it make more sense to have skills that increase woby's inventory instead? Without too much of a direct buff, woby could get some inventory space specifically for ammo and ammo only, and when ever Walter is low on ammo woby could come over and quickly refill it. Its just what the fetch skill does but in reverse. As someone else pointed out (with hiw cumbersome it is to get rounds frkm her), it's the interaction between the two that perhaps is missing (you don't even need to expand her carrying capacity). Here's the thing if you just count unique ammo that's freeze rounds, 1 type of slowdown rounds, poop pellets, glass rounds(for aoe), primary damage rounds and then there's the choice of your alignment support rounds via the pure horror rounds or the pure brilliance rounds which are meant to support your dps. That's 6 slots and that's assuming you don't carry more than a stack per slot it's definitely not enough space.
