I just think that Slingshot's damage should be enough to warrant non-Walter players to try and enjoy him as well as providing good and safe alternative damage option, but at the same time should be lower

The issue is that this doesn’t really solve anything, The slingshot is still as safe as ever, you just take longer to kill anything for the sake of it and that’s genuinely a bad design and just boring, handicapping and entire character while not offering any kind of reward for playing up close just means that Walter will still be bad forever, this is why prefer for them to nerf the slingshot in the same way they did with Wanda, via preventing stun locks and just being expensive to use while taking a looooong while to actually catch up, the issue is not the dps but rather the lack of options, if the brightshade rounds actually lasted for a while and buffed all damage sources it would incentive people to debuff and fight melee for more damage, if the shotgun mode was implemented people are going to go in the face of the enemies to get more damage, if he actually got interesting rounds that aren’t just slowdowns and went well with melee combat Walter could be so fun to play and hotswap items around, he doesn’t need the slingshot to be nerfed because that would just make him painfully boring again, he just needs more options.

Scrappy frame charge attack is good against bishop, celestial champion phase 3, and those bosses that you can't stand still to fight. It's dps is higher when you need to kite every two hit, which is almost all of the case before you got icker round

The thulecite frame is also equally as good, as with proper timing you can fire just as fast as you would from attacking normally. Walter should always have quick access to slowing ammo because honey and slow-down are not expensive ammos

Scrappy Frame can let you cheese Crab King with the charge shot, and that's good enough for me.

you can do this with thulecite frame alt fire, too, i believe

Reviving this thread since the information presented here and in the comments is quite insightful and should not go unnoticed. Also cuz I'm praying for a Woby's Winter Coat for Christmas.

bumping this to say that weaving in 4 horror round (a monster can only be affected by 4 horror round at one time) in between your dps round (dreadstone, cursed) when you're wearing the void grip + cowl combo is reaaaaaaally good. you can easily kill the twins in 2 winter nights. not very impressive at first glance, but with agility badge 2, you can do it super safely.

In terms of DPS, Cancelling with Sticky Grip is almost the same as not canceling with void, so we are fine no cancelling ❤️, e believe the DEVs did right in giving this option but as an optional perk

wdym cancelling with sticky grip? you can anim cancel with Walter now?

only in the same way you can with everyone else. i have not seen anyone do it with his exclusive items (granted the like 4 i have seen were all super fast already so it might just be i am watching the wrong kind of player, haha)

Scrappy Frame is useless. Scrappier Frame is not worth it. It doesn't provide any good additional effects, it costs too much and works only as ammo storage.

Nah Scrappy frame is really good. I made some test runs and its extremely easy to rush. Scrappy werepig junkyard gives you the scraps, and if you get lucky you get a wire there without having to wake up the pig, but if not you can still get wires on the tumbleweeds (this is for the players that dont rush ruins, because in theory yea you can get wires from the clockwork spawns).

The charged attack does double the damage, this makes it so for example gold rounds do 68, which is dark sword damage. You could use this to kill things like tallbirds with less ammo by just spamming charged attacks.

Also the charged attack now charges the "lock in" mode from the silk grip and void grip without having to wait, its really good to use it as a starter of a fight if you are using those. And its also really good in scenarios like @kevindaze mentioned, if you have to kite.

Exactly, you can make one with only some junk pile rummaging if you're lucky, and rushing ruins hitless is extremely easy with this scrappy frame

I found the Thulecite Frame easy to rush, too. You can just get all the materials in the ruins themselves, or get the Nightmare Fuel and gems after digging up graves, and just hammering a few of the walls that litter the ruins and wilds. You can craft it at any tier of the Ancient Pseudoscience Station, and Walter can just rush in on Woby, craft it, and leave before a Bishop even has time to attack you.

I prefer the Thulecite Frame, especially for the AoE and more intuitive ammo management, but I'm sure Scrappy has its uses too. But I find the cost of ammo pretty trivial, so the double damage charge doesn't really appeal to me much. If anyone has a good analysis on which is better and when and why, that would be nice to learn more about. As of now it seems like Celestial Champion phase 3 and Crab King are the best uses (or anything if cheesing.) I mostly just use them for infinite ammo storage in Woby.

Edit: Oh and I am pretty sure the crafting material is refined Thulecite. I just grab a ton of fragments while I'm in the area for Cursed Rounds, and you can just skip mining anything in the ruins altogether by refining some of them. There's usually a safe statue or two along the way, though.

You can, according to my tests is only the BEE QUEEN one that it can be done.

Its kind of the same as with melee, it's good because if you don't have the void one, only by killing BQ you can already achieve the same DPS if you cancel, it's a good gimmick

yeah if you're lucky, scrappy frame can be really rewarding

here's a clip of me getting every component before rushing the ruins, which i then use the frame to snipe out bishops lol. the wire came from the first tumbleweed i picked
